Birdcage / Cage Veils

posted 1 month ago in Beehive

Hi ladies!

I just wondered if anyone has worn, will be wearing, or is considering going with a birdcage/cage veil? Any suggestion for websites I should visit? I am not interested in spending $80 - 200 on a tiny strip of netting, but love the look of them. I am definitely not someone who has ever considered myself a veil bride, but I love the idea of a short/chic birdcage veil for the ceremony to add an element of mystique. For the reception I am all about a single white magnolia in my hair.

Hi! I am having a birdcage veil made by Myra Callan. You can find her on Etsy and her "store" there is named Twigs & Honey. She's amazing! Not only is she custom-designing and hand-making my birdcage veil, but she is also doing the same for a flower I will wear in my hair below the veil where my hair is pulled back. I plan to take the veil off after the ceremony and leave the flower in my hair. She is also very reasonably priced! It's around $50 per piece or less. I love her creations so much that I'm having also design a flower for my MOH's hair to make her stand out on the wedding day a bit.

Here is a link to her etsy site: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5060316

I'm doing a mini-veil style birdcage.  Pic in my planning bio, link:

I found mine on ebay for like $30!  also try etsy - they have a lot of cool wedding headpieces (tho there I thought there were more fascinators than veils - still cool).

I ordered the flower that I am going to wear with my birdcage veil from Myra too!!

I was going to order my veil from www.somethingbold.com but after spending some time here and on The Knot realized that I could do it myself.

I ordered the netting from a millinery company (Judith M.) and it cost only $12 with shipping to Canada!  I knew I wanted it simple so will just need two combs from Michael's and that's it.

Have you tried looking on Indiebride?  There are a couple of threads on how to make your own.  Here's one

They aren't cheap but they're gorgeous at castlebride.com, and they have a weekly $100-off contest which I just found out that I won!!!!

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I am going to look into all of them...I am a firm believer that my architecture degree should have prepared me for making my own birdcage veil so I may give that a trial run and see how it goes. Thanks, ladies!
