Our guests will be choosing their meals tableside on the night of the wedding. So I didn't have to put anything on the RSVP cards (although that seems fun too), my question is, is having a menu card necessary? I mean I know it's not necessary, but is it a nice thing to have? Will people feel lost without it? Or do I trust the wait staff to explain everything clearly? Would it save a lot of time to just have it and be done with it? I'm not sure I care either way, but I do love the little details. So what does the hive think? Have you been to weddings where you were choosing your meal that night and had or didn't have a menu card? How did it go? I honestly can't remember the situation at any wedding I've been to! How sad!! Haha. Thanks!!
Our venue requested that we have people choose between the two menu options so that they know how much of each dish to prepare. I am thinking of including menu cards just the same though as the guests only know about the main ingredient of the main course (cod or chicken).
For your situation I think that the menu cards will make things run more smoothly as people will see their options instead of just hearing them :) Plus, they look great on the place settings!
If you have time and money to provide menu cards, they are a nice option; perhaps not one for every place setting, but a few per table. Especially for elderly guests who might be a little hard of hearing, communicating effectively with the waiter with all the background noise that can be present in a large room is problematic. Although for most of your guests, given that you only have two options, it's not any different than listening to the waiter recite the specials in a nice restaurant. So if you don't have time or money, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's really just one more thing that will go in the trash at the end of the day.

Are they a good idea? Yesmaybe you can have a big menu as the guests walk in to read instead of a individual menus
