Hey Hive! I have been so overwhelmed and abandoned you for 1 month, but I promise this post will be filled with all of the juice leading to my insanity:
Recap - Destination Wedding - Im sure some of us have heard "I wish I did a destination wedding" well rest assure the grass is not always greener on the other side (sigh).
First meltdown: Deep breath...so about 1 month ago I was emailing my planner and noticed the emails were coming back few and far between and on the last email I see several names in the Cc line and now I think "OMG have I inundated her with too many checklists or have I become a bridezilla"???? The answer my fellow bees....she QUIT? or was FIRED? either way...I was in complete panic. I emailed the hotel several times to see who was going to take over my wedding, were they up-to-date on all of my emails with my previous planner and the response "we are hiring someone and thank you for your patience and understanding". Now, I am thinking "my patience and understanding"??? well I guess I appear that way since I have been in the dark about the whole ordeal. So what did I do you ask, I went through every e-mail between my previous planner and myself and made an itemized checklist and 'where we are to date' sheet for my future planner. Fortunately, they got back to me and scheduled a teleconference which set me at ease but thank goodness I am a packrat at planning or I would have had a major meltdown.
Have you run into the same ordeal or similar? What did you do to resolve the communication issue?
Second meltdown: The florist, you know in some languages I think wedding florist and quotes are considered curse words ...or maybe thats just bridal language nonetheless, I am 3 months away from my wedding without a confirmed florist. I have been going back and forth with the florist and the planner since April and I still do not have a quote or a sense of ease that I will have decorations. Although my hotel assures me I will have someone... I may have to buy a lot of candles instead and deal with my guests saying "if I see one more (fill-in-the-blank) candle".
Have you run into a similar situation? How did you handle finding the right vendors?
Lastly, the chairs....now ladies I have gone back and forth with this so many times and now I am waving the white flags. I surrender to the hotel banquet chairs verse the Tiffany chairs (is this the right term?). I figured we will be in the Caribbean with great food and music and if people care what type of chair their fanny is sitting on...then they have bigger issue to fry.
Anyway, thanks for being here and reading my madness.
I am super excited to go to Puerto Rico but I think mostly for the cocktails that I am going to deserve after all of the madness.
