Need to finalize my order for tables/chairs.  I keep getting yes, no problems from the caterers, but the rental company is encouraging me to get a couple of extras.

I really have not been to many weddings in my life.  The last wedding I ever went to was about 7 years ago.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanx

Ehhh... I think the tables in our venue are 60 inch, and the usual for those is 8-10. They're included in my price regardless, so I'm going with 8 per table, as I've been to a few with 10 at the same table and it's a bit of a squash for elbow room, and the table gets so full with silverware etc! If you can afford it, I'd go with however many you need to have a little bit of elbow room for guests.

Our rental co says 6' rounds seat 10-12. I imagine 10 is comfortable and 12 is tight unless some of those are kids.

Yikes.  I think that will be a VERY tight squeeze.

are you having chargers? If yes, 12 will not fit. If not, 12 people will fit but it will be VERY tight and I wouldn't reccommend it.

Ours are 72" and they fit 8 comfortably, 10 tightly.

I was told 72" for eight comfortably. 60" for twelve sounds tight.

We're seating 7-9 people at 60" rounds.  I wouldn't put more than 9-11 people at a 70" table.  12 will be tight, so I would try to have that be the exception rather than the rule.

Actually, I got my measurements wrong.....Not that 2 inches makes the world of a difference, but its 72 inches not 70.......Undecided

We had 60" rounds, so that's all I know about... but all the rental sites said 60" tables could fit 8-10. We had no more than 8 at each of ours and it was quite cozy, especially for the tables that were all adults.

Personally I wouldn't put any more than 10 at a 72" table, regardless of how many they're "supposed" to fit!

12 would probably fit, but not comfortably

Sounds way too tight to me, sorry! Ours were 60 inch and they fit eight people comfortably, ten at a bit of a squeeze. I'm imagining an extra 12 inches for the 72 inch tables, and I'm not imagining that being comfortable for 12 people. Possible, probably, but not ideal.

We used 72" tables for 8, and I thought it was comfortable, without too much extra small.

I'd worry about fitting 12 people comfortably at a 72" table, especially if you're planning to go around and might want to sit and chat with your guests.
