I had a dress fitting yesterday and discovered that with the bustier and the dress on I was hot as h@#$! Any tips on how to stay cool in there? Is it just me- or do some of you get hot with all that stuff on?
I don't think I sweat badly under normal cirmcumstances and don't recall this being an issue in my many turns as a BM- but now I am scared I am going to be a sweaty mess the day of.
I have the same fear! I put my dress on at home - or rather my mom and sister put me into my dress - and I literally had sweat dripping down my legs. Granted, we didn't have the air conditioning on in the living room, but my mom is really worried that I'm going to pass out during the ceremony and is plotting ways to hide fans behind flowers. Basically after I get the dress on I'm going to have people pick it up and blow a fan under there! And I'm probably not going to put lotion on my legs because that always makes me sweat.
I'm not going with the bustier - just because of that. Every one that I tried seemed like it would be really hot. I got the stick-on nu-bra, and I really love it. It gives pretty nice support without the extra layer.
LOL me too!!! Maybe you can skip the bustier (with alterations you can probably get some support sewn in)?
I am this close to asking my engineer fiance to rig me up a personal air conditioner to strap to my leg, instead of a garter. And I'm only kind of kidding ...
Oh ladies...there's a antiperspirant on the market called CERTAIN-DRI. Actually i learned about it here on the Hive Board. TOTALLY works...keeps you dry for a week or so! I've just started using it maybe 2 months ago and i LOVE it...NO sweat...even in 100 degree whether and everyone else is sweating and what not...NOT me..;-)
I just got my dress this week. The freaking bustier and underskirt are torture devices! I was sweating bullets just trying it on! I'm not a small girl and the bustier really gives me a nice shapeso I really need to have it. And the dress itself is already a puffy pick-up ballgown, and the crinolin just made that even more pronounced. I love it, I look fab in it... but I was dying! My bridesmaid told me her friend took off the underskirt and nobody noticed. All I can say is...A/C!! I'm going to make our reception hall an icebox! And we are getting married outside in May! I am praying for 50's weather (live in IN). It's a toss-up. I would love a cloudy chilly day. I would be in heaven in my beautiful 50 pound dress! LOL!
OK - same problem here! I am actually thinking of changing dresses because there's no way that I'll be able to dance and have a good time underneath a 10 lb dress/petticoat! Now I'm on the hunt for an inexpensive wedding dress with not much material. I figure I can change for the last 2 hours of the reception... and as long as I've gotten plenty of photographs in my "real" wedding dress it shouldn't be too bad, right?
