any september 22, 2012 brides out there?? let's talk about the magical date that is 9-22-12
we're almost exactly a year away!
I was just thinking the same thing... a year from Thursday and the countdown can truly begin! And yes, September 22, 2012 has such a nice ring to it! It is also the very first day of fall <3
yes, thursday! i can't wait til i can say LESS THAN a year! have you 'officially' started planning yet? i have a friend getting married october 2012 and she thinks i'm crazy for starting so early!
Getting married on September 22, 2012 as well and I can't wait! @Dovelovesfalcon, you are definitely not crazy for planning already, especially if you are a DIY bride. My venue has two ballroooms and two terraces, and one of each is already booked for our date, so we are left with the other two. If we would have waited any longer we would have to change our date!
You're not crazy at all! If you are, then I guess I am too... either way it's all good :)
I've purchased my dress (Aug 13, 2011), we've booked the reception and ceremony venues (July 22, 2011), and we booked our photographer (September 14, 2011)... my mom has purchased her dress already too... On top of all that, we have a set budget, a guest list, our wedding party has been selected, our colours have been chosen, we've got the hotel business taken care of, a friend is making our cake and doing the flowers and decor, I've purchased everything nescessary for the invitations (I am doing them myself) and the decorations... oh and we've chose our DJ (just have yet to put down a deposit)... I guess I should perhaps get on deciding who is going to marry us...
thanks gals.. so glad i'm not crazy! @ashleyodell- we went through the same thing- so many places were already booked for september and october! but luckily we found a place, have our photographer, officiant, invites, saves the dates, and my dress! now for the zillion diy projects : )
I'm getting married 9-22-12 too! So excited to say September and not preface it with next!!!
@dovelovesfalcon: You're definitely not planning too early! If you know what you want, there is no harm getting it booked sooner. At least you know you'll have it done!
We've got our church booked, reception hall will be booked tomorrow, DJ is booked, photog booked, coordinator booked, caterer decided on but not booked. Bridal party is selected and ready to party! I've purchased my gown. We're looking into our honeymoon cruise now, it's already booking up!
Yay!
I've purchased the dress, we've selected our wedding party (for the most part), we have an idea of our ceremony/reception venue, are working on sorting out the food, the flowers are figured out (my mom is doing them for us :D), and I know what song I'm walking down the aisle to.
One year from today we get married ladies! Let's keep up the great planning!
365 days to go! (366 days next year, silly leap year!)
yay! I am a 9-22-12 bride too! I can't believe that it is one year away!!!!! I am going to have my moms dress altered and modernized (its such an 80's dress), I have the sites booked. I just have to call my caterer soon to book, and I am still looking at photographers.
We changed to the 22nd from the 29th because of FH's work schedule (he's a firefighter).
Last night (the 22nd) we celebrated our "pre-versary" by dressing up to the nines and going for a fancy dinner: and he surprised me by ordering escargot! Then we walked and talked for hours, and I didn't even get blisters from my stilettos. Bliss.
Ay others girls celebrate their pre-versary?
I said happy negative anniversary to the fiancé and he looked at me like I was nuts! Haha!
@moosey agreed, we decided that -1st anniversary doesn't sound right: too "negative". So pre-versary it was! Did he understand and get into it though?
Haha, not at all. He's not a date remembering kind of dude so I think he was worried he had already forgot something important! Luckily I didn't really care-- just thought it was a cool concept. :)
Officially decided yesterday - Sept 22, 2012! We had to wait until we picked our honeymoon before we could officially pick our date! We're going on a cruise - So the ship and itinerary we wanted kind of determined our date!
So far we have the reception site, bridal party, food, dj, and I have a TON of ideas for my decor = ) I wasn't planning on going dress shopping until March or April, but after reading this, maybe I should go sooner!
Is anyone having an outdoor wedding? I live in Ohio and I'm at odds right now about an outdoor ceremony or not. There is a BEAUTIFUL open field on top of a hill with trees in the distance that were amazing fall colors when we visited on Saturday - But I'm scared it will rain! If so, I'm not sure what our backup plan would be. Is anyone else stressing about an outdoor ceremony in Sept??
@burchca: I was stressing about having an outdoor ceremony so I changed my mind and we are now getting married in a beautiful little chapel :) Weather in September is so unpredictable where we are getting married so I didn't want to risk it.
@burchca:I'm doing an outdoor wedding! I LOVE our spot, and couldn't find a suitable backup pla, so I decided to just tell guests to bring umbrellas in case of rain. There will be a roof over where me and FI stand, but not to cover the guests, so they can use umbrellas.
@Nutmeg - The more I think about it, the more I want to get married outside... I called a friend of mine who's first 2 ceremony spots got rained out. Tree fell on the first location, then they moved to another part of the garden and 2+ hours of rain made it into a mud pitt. They made a makeshift isle in the reception site and had it indoors. I wanted to see if she regretted planning it outside and getting rained out or if she could care less - She said she could have cared less looking back on it! She got married, had fun, and her theory was what was meant to be, will be. She was meant to have it inside, and thats what happened. My mother, sister and I are going to go visit in a few weeks - So hopefully they think it's a good idea too = )
I got so excited when I saw this post!
FI and I picked September 2012 the day we got engaged. His birthday is the 11, so we wanted a day after that. Our wedding will be in his home town in Ireland. We've been planning since early this year and we were lucky our reception venue was wide open for next september, so we picked the 22. We had his family book our cathedral for the ceremony and they book the hotel for the reception in April. This summer we went to Ireland and did our food tasting, so the menu is done and we picked center peices since the hotel provides them. While we were there we also booked the band and our photographer and I had a hair and make up trial done. The hair stylist is booked now too. The guest list is also done, wedding colours picked and the wedding party is selected. We picked the song for our first dance and the song I will walk down the aisle to.
And 2 weeks ago I bought my dress! A lot of people comment about how much we have done and have thought the wedding was this year since so many things are completed. FI's sisters have been amazing with helping out via email and text messages. I'm lucky one of the future SIL's works in PR and has a ton of contacts in Ireland so she can get me pretty much anything I need.
Me! Yeah, it'll be so nice to just be able to say "September" instead of "No, not this September..."
The plan is to have the ceremony outdoors, but I'm really glad there's an indoor option since we've had a LOT of rain just recently here. So far, we've got the venue for ceremony and reception, and that kind of comes with food and all the stuff we'll need for dinner and cocktail hour (tables, chairs, tablecloths, plates), and a guest list going. Other than that, it's still a work in progress. FI has been really confused about why anything would need to get done so early, but maybe now that it's "less than a year away" instead of "more than a year away", it'll start to seem more urgent to him!
@burchca: Plus some of the pictures that other bee's have shard of bries and grooms in the rin look very pretty!
@nutMeg13: agreed. The lighting is better on a rainy day and no-one is squinting.
I am definitely a 9-22-12 bride. I can not wait until the day. I have almost done everything on for this wedding. I have booked everything: venue, photographer, cake, wedding coordinator, florist, makeup artist.....
So I'm headed up north this weekend and am meeting with the Pastor and Church and then our planner! I'm so excited!
We're going be doing some cake tasting, looking over decorating ideas, bridesmaid dresses, tuxes, all the details. We still have to find a caterer and baker, but those are the only two big things left to book.
September 22, 2012 Brides who are in Ontario, where are you getting married??
@DaniBanani: 7 months of the year we live just north and west of Toronto, and we chose a venue 15 minutes from our house.
@Ivorybuttons: Very nice! Toronto is half way between where we're from and our families live (Barrie) and where we are renting and currently living (St. Catharines). We are getting married in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
@DaniBanani: that sounds like it will be beautiful! Niagara-on-the-lake is such a charming little town (speaking of, I have to renew my passport soon!). I've never been there in fall, but I bet its gorgeous!
@moosey: That's not far from Barrie (where I'm from)... It's cool to find out there are a couple of us out there in close proximity that will be getting married on the same day!!
@nutMeg13: Oh trust me it is gorgeous in the fall!!! We just went to check out the area around the chapel that we are getting married at (Historic Queenston Chapel) the other day and the trees and everything were breath taking!! It is also cool that September 22, 2012 is the first day of fall!
I'm a 9-22-2012 and couldn't be happier to have our special day on the first day of Fall. We got engaged in April 2011 so I've come up with a long list of DIY tasks for myself. I have booked our photographer, reception venue this week, ceremony is in our new house's backyard, bridal party has been selected, centerpieces purchased, wedding colors have been selected as well. Still plenty to do. Happy wedding planning!!
I booked the DJ today... so now all I have left to book (minus my my hair & make-up appointments) is the Officiant (which I really need to get done ASAP).
whoa i haven't checked this in a while and i'm so excited to see so many 9.22.12 brides out there! i just became a first time aunt on tuesday when my sister had a beautiful baby girl.. so at least i have something to keep my mind off the wedding wait! i hope this year flies. looks like most of us are on top of our planning, awesome! congrats gals!
are any of you guys taking advantage of the fact that we're getting married on the first day of fall and having a fall menu? we just met with our caterer and decided on a fall menu and it was delish! sweet potatoes, squash, pumpkin pie.. yum! let's just hope it's a little cooler next year than it was this year, i want it to actually feel like fall!
We're doing an informal BBQ buffet for our reception, as far as we have planned. My brother-in-law is a chef and has volunteered to help out along with my dad, so we're thinking pulled pork, grilled corn, and a bunch of salads. I think I want to put some fall flair into our dessert buffet though!
Another 9/22/12 bride here! We've booked most of our vendors-- venue, caterer, DJ, and officiant-- and are working on figuring out colors so I can plan decorations and linens and stuff. I feel like I'm kind of a lull in planning now though. It still seems so far away!
Oh, and I love that the date is the fall equinox-- equal light and darkness. Seems like the concept of equality is a good one to start a marriage with :)
@moosey: my mouth is watering! sounds delish!
@Miss Great Dane: welcome! same here with the planning.. i got so much done the first few months of our engagement.. booked all the vendors (just booked hair & makeup today!), completed some big projects, ordered STDs (though we're not sending them out til around the beginning of February), bought my dress & shoes, picked colors/theme, and chose our wedding party. what am i gonna do for the next 11 months & 1 day?! also i never realized the fall equinox thing but i love it!
when is everyone else sending out their STDs? we have a bunch of OOT guests who are in the tri state area, and then a handful who are scattered around the country. is february a good time for me?
@dovelovesfalcon: I wanted to send out my STDs in mid November, but my mom is forcing me to wait until late Jan, early Feb!! Her reasoning is if we do it before the holidays, people will forget. I'm worried because Sept is becoming so popular, it'd be best to send the STDs early so we can "reserve" our guests!
