After having our formal wedding in my home state of California, my FH and I will be hosting a cocktail reception in his home state of Kansas, during Thanksgiving weekend. We're thinking of making it a more relaxed evening with a possible film theme because we are both movie LOVERS! But, since we came up with the idea, I've been having trouble finding some inspiration. This is why I'm turning to the wonderful Hive. I really need some help finding pretty much everything. The color scheme we're working with is dark brown, burnt pumpkin orange, and marigold. I was thinking movie reels, vintage projectors, popcorn... I would REALLY appreciate what you ladies can offer in the form of ideas and visuals in order to make this reception great and fun.
THis sounds like such a cute idea!!!! And, I love your colors. You could have a popcorn bar at the reception, and buy some little popcorn boxes for people to fill. I have seen the boxes online, but i don't remember where. I came across some movie reels, super cheap, on ebay!! You could put them on the walls, etc. Here is the link:
oh oh oh... fall + movies = HALLOWEEN CANDY sales! you can get candy that would eb good for a candy buffet on sale, andsince kids don't like the old fashioned ones you're in double luck
Go to a craft store like michaels, they have a lot of fall invetory out now to give more inspiration
One of the Bees was planning on doing this sort of vintage film theme too. Maybe Ms. Flamingo? Anyways, you might be able to find it, if you look for it in tags. There were tons of great ideas in some of her posts and lots of readers commented with additional thoughts and suggestions.
