We are 3 less than 3 months shy of the "BIG" day and we haven't booked our honeymoon b/c we can't decide!! We chose Mexico, but we can't decide on which all inclusive resort to stay in.....we have spent countless hours reading the reviews on both bookit.com and trip advisor.com with mixed results. It seems as though every place has some negatiive comment accompanied by a positive one ranting and raving aobut the hotel's fabulous this or that.....so here in our dilemma lies......if any of you have stayed in Mexico in October at an all inclusive please lemme know where you would STAY AWAY from as well as where you may recommend.....thanks! Oh an it would be in Puerto Vallarta or Los Cabos.... Other than that wedding planning is slowly winding back up.....now it's crunch time ladies....gotta finalize the guest list and order the invitations and favors.....all the "little" leftover things are what we have to focus on now.....eek~
I was in Los Cabos years ago in the spring, and I would warn that if it's not summer time, the water is really cold. We were totally shocked that we couldn't enjoy splashing around in the ocean, because it was like an ice bath. No one warned us about it, so we were naturally a little dissapointed. If you're into the whole playing in the waves bit, Cabo might not be the place. Then again, the water in Puerto Vallarta is probably equally as chilly. You really have to hit up the Carribean side if you're going for the uber-tropical feel. If you don't need to be in the water a bunch, everything about Cabo was really fun otherwise. Good luck!
I prefer Puerto Vallarta myself, and I think because of the prevailing water currents it is actually warmer than Cabo. It was also freezing last time I was there and you could scarcely get into the water.
My parents have a house there and if you asked them, they like Los Cabos better than PV, but I find it to be too dry for my own liking. Also it depends on if you want the huge American party scene or not... It was fun a couple years ago, but I'm pretty over that now.
PV is not any warmer, water wise. Also pretty freezing unless it's summer. I stayed at Riu Jalisco in PV earlier this year. hmmm how to discribe this place. On a scale of 1-5 I'd give it a 3. It's all inclusive but it's not as luxurious as some of the other all inclusive resorts I've stayed, (such as Sandles.....which I highly recommend). Things here were nice on the surface but there were a lot of oversites. examples: no room service, the pool wasn't heated,, (so it was impossible to swim in the pool and the ocean), the jacuzzi wasn't heated, you had to go to god knows where to get pool towels and they were out often, there wasn't food available 24 hours a day, it was far from the main city. this sounds bad but all in all i had a good time. the hotel itself is nice and clean. good service. Oh the other thing that bothered me is that not all water sports, (like scuba and snorkling), were included in this "all inclusive" resort.
I'm obviously being VERY picky here. I had a good time and just tried to ignor the little oursights. But I definitly recommend you check out Sandles, (if there is on in PV or Cabo). Great service, great food, no kids, great hotel.
Hmm, guess I only had my experiences to go by, and it was warmer in PV when I was there compared to Los Cabos... but they were different times, so I stand corrected... I just thought the currents were different. I was at Playa Fiesta in PV for a conference a couple of years ago and was thrilled with the service, the pools and the spa facility.
Again, I stay at my parents in Cabo, so no suggestions there...

We went to our friends' destination wedding at the Riu Palace Mexico in Playa del Carmen in November. It's near Cancun, and there are shuttles to each of the resorts. I'm not a big traveler, and when I do go I usually stay pretty ghetto ... that being said, this was the nicest place I've ever been! The drinks were a little watered down, sure; but, they just kept coming, so no problem! The ocean was warm, there was tons of food, and a wonderful way to spend a few days. There was another Riu resort next door, but I heard from other guests it wasn't as nice.
I would second MissEsq in saying that Sandals resorts are absoloutley awesome. I've stayed at one of their sister properties on a family vacation in Jamaica, and I had one of the best times of my life! I immagine they rule the more affordable all inclusive scene. When they say all inclusive, they totally mean it, and it seemed pretty classy without being at all stuck up. The service was PERFECT too.
