Ouch! That's gotta hurt real bad for him to do that. He isn't gonna live long now simply out of contempt.
And anyay, who knows why she cheated in the first place? Maybe the old man had a lot of issues with her. And it's REALLY DIFFICULT to get a divorce in Italy even now. I can't imagine what it must be like 60 yrs ago when she cheated. Maybe she would have liked to divorce him then but it was just not an option.
Either way, it's not a good idea to cheat on your partner but it's always complicated the circumstances that lead up to the divorce.

So I just read a story on-line about a couple who has been married for 77years. Well, 60 yrs ago, the wife (now 96yo) had an affair. The husband who is now 99yo has filed for divorce. I know that no matter how long ago an indiscretion has happened finding out something like this can be devastating. But I would think that after 77 years of marriage you can figure out how to get beyond something like this. I hope and pray for the best for them as a couple, whatever it may be. But I can't help but feel sad about someone walking away after all those decades of marriage. Here's the story if you wanna check it out.
