People do it to “bump” their thread up to the top of the list, so more people will see it and might get people to respond to it.

It bumps your thread to the top of the boards.  You don’t really have anything to say, but you want other people to see the thread and comment, so you type “bump” which essentially bumps it to the top!

Hi Julie!   “Bump” is used when a poster wants to ‘bump’ their post back to the top of the list to get more replies. It should be used sparingly (like if your post gets buried and no one sees it). Hope that helps!

i think its a way to keep your post on the first page of the boards…everytime someone comments on something, that post moves up a spot on the page…

not a stupid question…

Also, I see that you might be new here. (from your 21 posts) Welcome! and also here is a link for abbreviations. I know I didn’t know what DH, FH, ETA and NWR meant when I first joined.

Haha! I saw this & I was like…”someone’s bumping their bump thread”

I know I’m dumb sometimes…that’s why I’m blonde 🙂

The first time I saw it I was so confused too!  I didn’t ask so it took me awhile to figure it out.

We usually ask that people not abuse bumping… sometimes people go nuts bumping their old threads, which gets annoying for everyone else pretty quickly! 🙂

The topic ‘BUMP’ is closed to new replies.
