We are trying to narrow down our caterer. Has anyone used Corky’s or been to a wedding that did? They by far have the best prices (roughly $37 per head for food, staffing, taxes, and rentals, not bar), but we are worried about taste. The mock menu that they sent us is pretty average. They did say that we could change up the food, but after looking at a larger menu they have on their website, I am not encouraged by my options.
(PS Myself and FH are more adventurous eaters, but our families are meat and potatos ONLY type of people. So if you have suggestions for cheap caterers that’s great, but we probably cannot have something like Greek or Indian food, even though we want to…)

HATED CORKYS. If you are throwing a picnic shin-dig, go for it. But that’s all Corky’s is. It’s like coorporate catering on the cheap.
We’re using Goose Island as our caterers. Not only are we getting a FANTASTIC menu, all beer included (the rest of the bar, we are stocking on our own), and friendly staff, we are also getting it for about 90/head, which is very competative with others we’ve seen.

@ohmybears48: I have actually talked to Goose because I loved their mock menu, and they let you do your own bar as long as you have 1 or 2 goose island brews, which we already plan on. But I don’t know if I can swing it financially. We are looking at wishbone too.

We are using D’Absolute Catering. Fantastic menu, very flexible, and he came in under $70 a head. Last I spoke with them, they were booking up very quickly for 2013, but they’re at least worth a phone call to check!

Corky’s is not good. In fact, I’d say they’re on the verge of gross. Their food is like cafeteria quality food. I’ve had them at kids birthday parties and things like that. I’d avoid using them for a wedding if you can.
