I would definitely call up your insurance company and find out just how much it’s going to cost you to deliver, as well as what prenatal services are/are not covered.  That way you can start saving money now!

I’d also start taking prenatals if you aren’t already.

@MrsPaperFlowers:  That’s really great, but have you guys talked through this other than it being your husband’s idea to do when you run out of condoms? I am sure you have, but this is a huge step and not only that a very expensive and emotionally trying step. Have y’all considered all the financial pieces of this and talked about how much it will cost? And also how stressful TTC can be? Just questions to ask yourself before you really pull the goalie.

@MrsWBS:  Agree, even with insurance I know people who have paid $5K out of pocket for labor and delivery. You definitely need to know what you are getting into cost-wise with all the doctors appointments and such with pregnancy. Not to mention, babies are CRAZY expensive!

Here’s a pretty nifty calculator that helps you estimate how much a baby costs. http://www.babycenter.com/baby-cost-calculator

It scares the crap out of me! DH and I make a good living and by are no means struggling, but the numbers still make me sweat!
