The little diamonds (like pave). Like 1 carat = 100 points, I think.

Someone correct me if I am wrong!

@NYBride_421:  1 point = .01 ct This is based off of round brilliants that typically have 100 points (facets) in 1 ct. 5 points would mean that the stones in the band were each .05 ct. Hope this helps!

@NYBride_421:  It’s to distinguish small diamonds. For large center stones people just use carat weight to describe it. But for small stones that are typically round (pave) that’s when points are used. For example, I have half pointers in my halos (so 0.005 ct each) and 3/4 pointers on my shank (0.0075 ct each). It’s easier to say half pointers than saying zero point zero zero five carats, lol.
