Mr. Roo gets upset if I call him “significant other”. He says it makes it sound like  he’s not the only one… (I don’t get how his mind works sometimes. Laughing

I would call him BF even though I began to hate it.  SO is too hard to say.

Boyfriend.  And when we got engaged, I felt so weird saying fiance, and kept accidentally calling him boyfriend.  Now I’m comfortable with fiance (it has nothing to with our relationship, it just was 4 years of calling him boyfriend got me used to it!).  But soon…husband!

I never called him anything. I talked about him so much, everyone knew who John was.

@mwitter80: Same. I’d just say, “Oh, this is Mr.ND, Mr.ND this is my (instert title/friend/co-worker/etc) Mrs. XYZ”. Most people knew we’d been together for years, so ‘boyfriend’ was just awkward.

I say boyfriend. *I just threw up a little in my mouth to say that at 30* I would say significant other, but the ppl would be confused. *eye roll*

Interestingly, he calls me his girlfriend or fiance.

I interchange depending on who I’m with and where we are.

    Boyfriend/partner/significant other/his name.

In North America partner has a lot of same-sex associations with it, but not in other parts of the world (we move lots). So it’s always different.

Boyfriend is the WORST for work.

We call each other boyfriend and girlfriens. But lately I’ve taken to explaining to certain people that he is really more of a future-fiancé. It jut depends on who I’m talking to.

I still say “boyfriend” or “significant other” even though we are engaged now.  I really hate “fiance.”

I intro him as “boyfriend” and try to call him by name thereafter. For those who really know us, I call him hubby. Not engaged – 23 and 25 y.o.
