It really depends on what you want. I know that at a recent wedding with a small bridal party, they had soft music playing as we all sat down. Then, the music changed just for the bridal party (and seating the family). They let it play a few seconds before everyone came out though. Then there was about a 15 second gap before they cued the bride’s music so we all knew.

Also, I’ve always seen it: Officiant appears, mothers are seated, bridesmaids, MOH, ring bearer, then flower girl (no one else walks on the flowers except the bride) then bride and father.

Again, it’s personal preference. This is just coming from weddings that I’ve witnessed.
