Just wanting to get this off my chest.
We are currently working on our ceremony. We have asked all 3 of our siblings to read some part of our ceremony, fhs siblings seem quite excited by the prospect but my sister said she doesn’t want to because she doesn’t like public speaking. It hurts a little. She has been so negative the whole planning And if I have an idea I feel like everyone is soooo judgemental. We have only ever been to 1 wedding so don’t really no wat the norm is but its just sooooooo disheartening every time she is negative. i know no one else is as excited for our wedding as we are but I am even regretting having bridesmaids because I just feel like they are disheartening this whole experience. Maybe I just need to stop asking Any of my family about stuff because I feel my mum is a little the same. I just feel no support and it hurts. That’s all ill go about getting over it now..

@Mrs2b2014: Everyone needs a bit of a rant sometimes, don’t feel bad!
FWIW, my mum isn’t all that excited either. Not because she doesn’t want us to get married/doesn’t like FI or anything, she has been nothing but supportive, but she isn’t that kind of person haha but luckily I knew that beforehand! 🙂
Also, my oldest brother was the best man in my other brothers wedding last year, and he flat out refused to make a speech and it really hurt younger brother. It was hard to convince him that older brother, though he doesn’t show it and t comes off as just being kindof an ass, really hates being the centre of attention and he really does hate public speaking! It was meant with no ill intent but sometimes its hard tosee that, especially on something to close/important to yourself 🙂

Sorry she’s been so negative 🙁 With the reading thing though, i know a LOT of people that wouldn’t want to do it. We gave my sister in law the option of doing a reading or being a witness, and she chose witness.

Public speaking is terrifying to many people. Don’t take this personally.

Thanks I am trying not to take it personally but it still sucks.

I’m HUGE into toastmasters…I HATE SPEAKING IN FRONT OF PEOPLE. I had to join this to conquer my fear.
Why did Toastmasters start? To help people learn to give toasts for weddings (and at other various events!).
Try to encourage your sister to attend meetings, they are free to attend, to follow a manual there is a membership fee plus the manual fee. But she should be able to go to as many free ones and practice ‘table topics’ where she can learn to speak in front of people…It’s international.
Just a thought….maybe it’ll help
PS this is NOT spam, just advice!
