- Wedding: July 2015 - Industrial/Modern
Hi Bees! New here and I’ve been meaning to share my proposal story. I proposed to my fiance on June 28th. A bit unconventional but I really wouldn’t have had it any other way. Originally I thought to do a big flashy kind of proposal with our family and friends but upon reflection it just didn’t seem like us (particularly him). He’s a gentle, mellow kind of guy. Our first date was at a coffee shop just up the road from where he used to live. He’s been a regular customer there for 6 years and knows the staff and owner really well. This place has become a fixture in our lives. I knew it had to happen there so I enlisted the help of the staff who made sure the place was fairly empty that day and that his favorite band was playing on their sound system (Depeche Mode) His best friend is a photographer so we concocted a story about him meeting us at the cafe and then taking some candid shots of my son in a nearby park.
My fiance (squee! that’s not going to get old anytime soon!) majored in fashion merchandising and got his start styling music videos. I wanted the proposal to have a nod to his beginnings so I embroidered a piece of linen to look like paper and then embroidered a picture of the three of us my kiddo had drawn (and his “signature” which cracks me up everytime I look at it) on to the paper. Having the kiddo be a part of the whole thing was really important to me. The box that contained the needle and thread belonged to my Dad (who passed away 2 years ago from Pancreatic Cancer). He kept all his professional pins in it. I had originally planned to propose with one of Dads watches but it didn’t arrive in time from Jamaica (perhaps a “day of the wedding” gift for him instead.)
Anyway… pictures!! Hope they aren’t too big!
He was so excited he could barely sit still.
