So, as I was getting ready to leave for a Pampered Chef party tonight, there’s a HUGE boom that all 3 of us in the house hear. My FI and I were upstairs, we thought it was downstairs & thought something happened to our roommate. Our roommate had no clue what it was, and thought it came from upstairs. He went up to his room to check if something in his closet fell, looked out his window, and goes
“Uh, there’s a car that just hit our house”
We ran outside, and apparently the neighbor across the street, whose driveway is on a slight incline, I guess maybe forgot to put the parking brake on or something, and after he got his son out of the car (I think he’s about 2, and absolutely adorable), he walked up to the front door & was talking to his wife, and all of a sudden hears the loud boom & turns around, and his car was in our yard, backed up onto the front of our house.
Luckily no one was in the car, and there was only a crack on the side of his bumper, not something that would need to be replaced immediately by any means, and there was no damage to our townhouse! Craziness!

OMG thank goodness no one was hurt! That’s crazy.

Well that’s something you don’t see everyday. Glad no one was hurt and damage was at a minimum!

I had a friend in middle school who lived on a curvy road. She told me that so many cars ran off the road into her house (actually the wall of her bedroom since it was in front) that it didn’t even surprise her anymore even though it was semi-rare and usually on Friday or Saturday nights when people were out late and driving recklessly home. It never happened when I was over there though. I’m glad no one was hurt though!

you should get an inspector to check it out just in case something happened with the foundation or something – that’s crazy!

I can completely relate to this story
I totaly did this!
One day I am sitting in my house after getting home from work. DH was coming home right after and I was talking to him on his drive home when he got to the street he said “hun where’s your car?” and I said “in the garage, why?” and then he laughed and told me to come outside.
I run outside and there is my car across the street on our neighbours lawn. My car was fine and I didn’t hit anything thank goodness but I couldn’t believe it rolled out of the garage, down the driveway, across the road and up the curb onto the neighbours lawn!!!!!! All because I forgot to put the parking brake on (manual transmission).
I am glad no one is hurt and your house is ok! Now it’s just a funny story like mine! This actually happened 3 weeks before the wedding and so I blamed it all on bride brain LOL!

We had a car hit my parents house on New Year’s Eve Day morning 2 years ago that did leave lots of damage! It was really scary too because FI was actually sleeping in the family room and the car was VERY close to coming the whole way through and crushing him.
I’m really glad nothing like that happened to you guys!! I second the suggestion to have someone come out and look at it, though. Sometimes you can’t see structural damage, so it might be wise to have it looked at!
