Ok, so we’re not really moving cross country. We’re going from FL to MD. But it still feels dramatic nonetheless. For all the stress and craziness that I am contending with right now, see here.
But to be more specific, I came here looking for advice on moving with my cat. Ok so the actual scene is that my husband and I are relocating to Baltimore with my mom (and my sister, but I’m not sure if she plays into this conversation or not based on when she’s going since she’s going to college up there which is a different type of move). We have 3 cars that we need to get up there. My mom originally said we were just going to drive all of them (which is all of us separating for the long haul driving our own cars – no chauffeur deal for me). My husband suggested the auto train because it goes from Orlando to Virginia, which is so exact for our route and it would be perfect, and that way we don’t have to put the miles on our leased cars (+ all be together). I’m not sure yet if the auto train is a real possibility or not since it is expensive.
Either way, I have no idea how to do any of this with a cat. If we take the cat in the car do we just put her litter box on the floor with some fresh litter? If we take the auto train can she come? Obviously I can call them up to get this info, so I’m a little more concerned if we drive. I need her to be comfortable, able to use the bathroom and eat obviously. I’ll be doing a lot of research whichever way we decide, but I just figured some bees may have some good advice based on personal experiences moving with a cat. TIA.
