I have a Baby Trend Expedition ELX travel system.

My clip is EXTREMELY firm and difficult to pull apart. It also looks very different from the ones in this video.

I dont think you can trust a bunch of display models because they have been played with. if that’s a popular carseat, chances are that display model is a few years old if they haven’t changed it much. And the amount of people that play with it…

I mean yeah if my car seat chest strap pulled apart like that I’d bring it in and request for a new one. However, I found something on this and it said the lady noticed prior to buying it, and still bought it. Why? Why wouldn’t you have brought it back right away. It had the same dates as this video and it was a 6MO daughter..

so that doesn’t really add up. I think if it was serious we would know and there would be a recall. I really can’t think they would take something like this lightly the way she makes it out to be in her video.

but thats just my opinion.

I agree why the f did she buy if the seat was like that and you NEVER buy a model off the floor. It has been tested thousands upon thousands of times.  We don’t have this brand or model.  The research on car seats should be done throughly before you purchase one.  And it should be bought in a box that has not been opened.

This seems fishy to me.

@Sassygrn:  yeah floor models are illegal to sell! I doubt she got a floor model, but still the story I read it was like one of those websites that writes complaints and it said she noticed before she bought one, and still got one. like wtf. there’s a couple fishy things.

but mine is perfectly safe and intact so I’m not worried about it lol

@gpsp2B:  Babies R Us actually does sell floor models. I know the one near us does/did.  It was deeply discounted and even had a tag on it saying it was floor model this was this past winter. We did purchase our from Babies R US but made sure they were sealed up in the boxes.

@quierajen:  I know she didnt buy the floor model, at least according to her… but i tried to search that model and baby trend safety issues and stuff.. and found very little… but the one site I found said this..

on aboutautomobile.com , not saying it’s totally credible… but there’s just very LITTLE information about her complaint.. and I cant find any other complaints on the same model or issue. baby trend is actually pretty well liked… especially the flex loc systems!

“The contact owns a baby trend child restraint, model number: cs41945, and manufactured september 23, 2012. The contact stated that the harness strap could be easily unlatched by her 6-month old child. The contact stated that prior to purchasing the seat, she noticed that other child seats of the same model could be easily unlatched at the harness by wiggling the strap. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that there were no recalls for the seat. The seat was not replaced”

…PRIOR TO PURCHASING THE SEAT, SHE NOTICED THAT OTHER CHILD SEATS OF THE SAME MODEL COULD BE EASILY UNLATCHED AT THE HARNESS…

so why would you buy it if you noticed that? and if yours did that brand new from the box, why would you keep it? she makes it sound like her daughter discovered the flaw on that video, but in this post it says she noticed before she bought it.

and the date on it is like september 23rd that video came about the 25th so im fairly sure its the same issue.

ETA: Not meant to say you’re arguing with me! just posting for anyone curious! lol

@Sassygrn:  wow that’s weird. I was the infant department manager at walmart and they said it was a federal law that we couldnt sell the display models.

Ours is from BRU too. The stroller was discounted because it was returned with a flat tire, and our carseat was new in the box.
