About an hour ago I looked at my ring and noticed one of the side diamonds is missing! Has anyone else lost a diamond from their ring? If you couldnt find the diamond, how did it work if your ring is insured? Do I take it to the jeweler, pay for it and then submit it to my insurance?

Honestly I have no experience with this, but so sorry! Glad to hear you have insurance though 🙂

I am sorry to hear that!! Where did you get your ring? Some places have you get your ring checked every so often. Mine is every six months and as long as you have gotten your ring checked inthe six months they will replace a diamond that fell out fix lose stones etc. Basically fix whatever is wrong with it if you keep up with your checks.
If that isnt an option for you see how much it would be to replace the diamond without making a claim. If its not to much do it so your insurence doenst go up as a result. Otherwise make a claim. It depends though what your insurence covers some outline its just as a result of theft that it will be replaced so really go over your coverage. Good luck!!

This happened to one of the tiny diamonds on my engagement ring about 6 months after is was purchased. Call the jeweler first because they fixed mine at no cost.

My mom lost 2 of her diamonds in her wedding band before. She took it to the store and they replaced it for her free of charge. Her ring was not insured.

@BostonGirl5: and @yellowshoe: good to hear! I am going to the jeweler tonight so hopefully they wont charge me.

My ring has a lifetime warranty from Zales so if any of the diamonds fall out they will replace it for me at no charge. You might have to contact the jeweller you bought it from to find out what their policy is

@PitBulLover: Oh no, so sorry. I’m paranoid about this happening to my e-ring. At least you have insurance.

@CatyLady: love your new avatar! And yes, Im glad I have insurance. A diamond falling out never even crossed my mind so I think I was shocked when I first saw it. I hate having to get my ring fixed and not having a ring for a few days!

the same thing happened to me! i was freaking out! luckily, they fixed it in a few hours, though! i would be missing mine too! 🙁

That sucks! I know my insurance doesn’t cover diamonds falling out. It only covers the complete loss of the ring. But Shane Co (where Darling Husband bought my ring) has a lifetime warrenty that covers diamonds falling out, broken prongs, etc.
Maybe whereever you got your rings has something similar?

@Mrs.KMM: i have USAA but i dont know what they cover. The place Darling Husband got the ring is a local jeweler so I hope they just replace it!!

ACK! I hope you can get it replaced soon!!

I’m so paranoid about this happening. Good luck!

@PitBulLover: I talked to Darling Husband (we have USAA too) and they should cover the complete replacement cost depending if it’s a seperate plan. If you just have renters/homeowners than its “just” 2000.
