Awhile back, we found out that the theater here would be holding a special showing of the 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who. Unfortunately, this would happen 2 days after the actual anniversary, which meant we’d have to stay off the internet for 2 days to avoid spoilers. Ah well, Doctor Who on a big screen, how can you turn it down?
SO had been dropping hints and was in fact posting a Doctor Who countdown on my Facebook wall every day. But I was trying to ignore that, so I didn’t let myself down. We had to go to the theater seperately because of work, and I got there first by a long while. So I went in and got seats and sat down to read my kindle.
I got a text from him, saying there was traffic and he was late, etc, etc. Finally he said he was out in the hallway of the theater, and there was a dalek toddler fighting with her Doctor brother and it was adorable and funny. So I went out and, yeah, no cute children. But there was a cute boyfriend, who started talking about how he wants to go see the 100th anniversary of Doctor Who with me. And the reason people love Doctor Who is because it’s all about finding those few people in the universe who help you become a better person and that’s really all any of us want.
And the whole time I was thinking “No, it’s not really it, he’s not doing it, you’re going to cry when he doesn’t do anything except kiss you…” And then, sure enough, he pulled out a TARDIS BOX and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
His cousin recorded the whole thing, and my hair was a mess and I look really awful from the side, and I think I may have grabbed the ring myself and put it on before he could, but it was still wonderful. After, we called our parents and my friends (his already knew) and my cousins and then went to the show, which was UNBELIEVABLE. And we posted it to facebook with the caption “I wear a ring now. Rings are cool.”
Now, pictures! I don’t have the recording, so I can’t post any photos of him on one knee, but i can post these 🙂 (sorry they’re huge. Does anyone know how to shrink them?)
I don’t know the specs on the diamond, because it’s his mom’s. It’s really incredibly special to have that. The ring itself is from ShaneCo. It’s a bit too big, but we can get that fixed. It does sit up quite high, which will take some getting used to.
And here’s the box.
I can’t stop staring at it! It is so distracting to have on my hand.
Anyway, that’s the story!!
