Just got back from another dress shopping trip and I am feeling a bit torn. I still have another appointment booked at David’s Bridal next weekend so we’ll see what that turns up, but for the moment I have 2 top dresses to choose between. Unfortunately I don’t have pics of me in them.
My wedding will be in a village church, followed by a reception in gardens and a marquee.
The first dress is exactly what I thought I wanted when I started looking. It has a very flattering neckline, the waist is in a perfect place on me, and the lace-over-tulle skirt is beautiful. It is classic and romantic and fits the church/garden wedding very well.
The second dress was a “wild card” I tried because it was so different. It’s the only dress to give me butterflies. It looks so glam and dramatic and the ruffles are so fun I keep thinking “squee!” inside. I’ve been comparing everything else to this dress. But maybe it is too fancy for my village wedding?
Both are in budget but the second dress is £200 cheaper.
Assuming I don’t find anything I like even more at DB next weekend, which would you pick? Thanks bees 🙂

Every wedding gown matches the wedding. Wear the one that you adore.

@Audrey2: Go with the one that gives you butterflies!!! IMO, your dress doesn’t have to match your venue. I’ve been to beach weddings where the bride was in a huge ballgown. It’s your day, go with the one that makes you happy!!! I’m wearing a ssimilar gown to your #2 and I’m getting married outside at a winery.

I think its beautiful. And would be amazing in a village wedding. Go for the butterflies, girl:)

Wear whatever dress you want! You get one shot, and I think if you went for the dress you think fits your venue, you will have massive dress regret. Get what makes you happy.

@Audrey2: The ‘butterflies’ dress would look fabulous at a marquee & nice garden wedding. I really like the skirt, it’s different to other dresses.

I heart ruffles!
both potato chip and dress. 🙂

You really can’t ever be too fancy on your wedding day. Wear the one you love!

@Audrey2: A bride sets the tone for her own wedding! Because we were having a beach wedding, people thought that I needed to be in a lightweight, chiffon gown. I wound up in a beautiful, silk mermaid gown and I couldn’t have been happier.
This is your wedding day. Never settle for anything less than butterflies. 🙂

@Audrey2: Definitely go with the dress you love! Don’t try to match it to your venue; no one will look at dress #2 and think it isn’t appropriate for you venue.

You should go with the dress you love!
When you look back at your wedding day you don’t want to think ‘what if’ you had the dress you liked on.. And regret it because you had to choose one that is more venue appropriate..
And by the way there is no such thing as venue appropriate.. You make your own wedding style!

@Audrey2: You are the bride, you have to be the most overdressed….it’s your wedding you wear the one you love.

Go for whatever makes you feel the happiest and most beautiful! My guess is that means the butterflies gown!

I don’t think dress #2 doesn’t match your venue. I think it matches the venue just as much as the first dress, so if it gives you butterflies, get it!

Follow your heart!! Pick the dress you love. You will never be sorry. You’re the bride – no matter the venue, you and your beautiful dress will make the day!!!
