    I agree with your FI on this one.  Just because something is special to you doesn’t necessarily mean that it will translate well to your guests.

    @Brielle:  I agree. I think you could probably incorporate fairies into the photo in a different way.

    What if you did a picture you and your FI both liked.. more mainstream, but instead have it in a woodsy location, and place a fairy themed object in the photo?  For example… what if you and he were seated under a tree and in the frame of the photo there was a fairy door on the tree?  Something understated, but just a nod to what you love would be awesome.  I think you can still incorporate your loves, without it being all decked out.

    I’m with your fiancée on this one.

    If he’s not into it, save it for Halloween.

    I’m sorry if it hurt you feelings, but you asked for opinions.  🙁

    Well, here is a thought.  Fairies are supposed to be fantasy, right?  And two people getting married represents a reality.  What if you used a regular photo of you and your FI, but you “framed” in a “magical” way on your STD so that there was a cartoon-looking  fairy (or two) on a magical themed card “presenting” you and your FI?

    I don’t mean that it needs to look exactly like this, but, to help give you an idea of what I mean, think of a Disney-style postcard with a very small cartoon of Tinkerbell holding a wand pointing to the picture, looking as if she is “presenting” you.  I hope that makes sense …

    Another idea might be to have several little flower girls at your wedding and have small fairy wings attached to their dresses.

    Do either of those ideas appeal to you at all?

    @Tarheelgurl:  That’s actually a beautiful picture!

    There is a bee who has a wedding pic with her DH, and there is lighting like that behind her skirt (they’re standing in front of what looks like a wrought-iron gate or fence or something in the dark, as I recall, and there must have been some type of lights behind it), and it is amazing!

    @Tarheelgurl:  that last pic is gorgeous. I get where you are coming from, you’re a creative person and you don’t want to do the mainstream thing. That last one is a great compromise and  it will be gorgeous enlarged and hung in your home! You might need to direct the photo shoot a bit without being obvious about it if your photographer isn’t on the same page, like scout out a location like that where the sun will be setting at that angle near your set piece during magic hour. Can’t wait to see them!
