We're back from St. Lucia and all I have to say is Wow!!! I'll write a post later about what we thought about St. Lucia and Sandals.
Here are a few photos of the cakes, ice cream and candy tables, some of the old cars at the venue etc.
We used pink and white carnations to make the sundae arangement and a little red rose for the cherry on top. Also found online the 3D chocolate airplane for the top :)
A little to explain about our wedding. We choose an old airplane hangar/hotel that was designed to look like a WWII hangar. We used the 1940s theme to tie it all together. We had 220 guests and thus had to have the dinner, cake and toasts in one hanager and dancing etc in the second hangar. The second hangar is decorated to look like South Pacific. The ceremony was on the side of the runway with the planes as a backdrop.
Last few photos. Can't wait to see the pro pics!
These last two are of the dancefloor with the band in the back and the send off. We used paper airplanes for the send off.
wow!! incredible details! i LOVE THE PAPER AIRPLANES! oh my gosh what an awesome idea!
Beautiful!!!!!! Your hair looked AWESOME! And I'm loving the candy buffet!
You wedding looks like so much fun! You are gorgeous! Congrats!
A little tip on the candy table. We used the fake diamond jewels as fillers. I found them in pink, clear and purple at the dollar store. Otherwise it would have taken lots more candy to fill the tall vases.
those desserts looks to die for... love the pictures... the ceremony in the runway is very unique
I love those pics! And what an amazing dessert and candy bar! p.s. I LOVE your veil... where'd you get it? :)
Love love love love love, so much! I can't wait to see your pro pics--they'll probably make everything look even more amazing than it already does. Congrats!
Did you have three cakes?? lol you look great! Congrats again!
Great pictures! It looks like it was an awesome wedding!
Where did you buy your veil? It's exactly what I have been looking for :)
Awesome pictures!!
And HOLY CAKES! THREE??? Wow, you all must have a tooth ache that next morning lol.
You and Groom looked beautiful. Congrats.
Thanks everyone! You are too sweet!
The veil I bought on Etsy from AnnLeslie Designs. I wanted a short blusher piece in the front with the long in back so we combined two of her designs.
Yep we had three cakes, a stack of brownies and cupcakes along with the ice cream. It was all gone at the end of the night. The 3 cakes feed 190 people and we had 100 of the cupcakes/brownies. We had 220 guests.
Fantastic! I love how creative and festive everything looks. I would love to have been a guest! But my favorite picture is the last one. I know it's just the timing and angle of the shot, but looks like you're wearing a little halo of paper airplanes :)
Awesome! Exactly the kind of wedding I've been wishing to have so a big thumbs-up from me. Congratulations!
Keep 'em flyin'!
WOW!!! That's awesome!!! Thanks for sharing. I am planning a 1940s post war themed wedding also, with the V-J Day kiss picture as my inspiration, that was such a proud time in our country's history, I've always loved it. I've never seen it tied in with the airplanes like you did, that is so cool! And that dessert table looks absolutely yummy.
Wow you look amazing.. what a great wedding.. oh and very yummy looking cake
Did you get married in Fredericksburg?!?! Because that looks like The Hangar Hotel :)
Gorgeous pics, and if you did, are the cakes from Sophie's Bakery? She does AMAZING work!

That's wonderful! I love the carnation sundae. And may I ask what is the meaning behind the planes? Do you or DH fly?

@o0oluluaalioo- Yes that's Hangar Hotel! It was such a wonderful place and the people at the Hotel were very nice.
@Tanya- My Husband is a commerical pilot and most of our guests are pilots. In fact some of the planes on the runway were our wedding guests that flew in!
@misspug- Thanks! I took my hair and make-up inspiration from this photo of Faith Hill as Grace Kelly
