Honestly I wouldn't eat any of the combos above :( I only drink non-fat milk, dislike those pre-packaged cheeses, don't drink soda or wine, and dislike oreos.
If I had to pick one, however, I would probably go for the chocolate chip cookie option since I enjoy the cookies :D
Mmmmm i picked the first option, I'm a sucker for wine and cheese... BUT this is only a good option if you know they will all drink the wine, I know some of my family members don't drink alcohol so it wouldn't work for me. The milk and cookies idea is always good, but be aware of any lactose intolerant guests....
Haha, choosing food for everyone is always difficult isn't it?
Cheese and wine seems the most celebratory out of them all! I'd love it if I were an OOT guest!
I'm lactose intolerant and thus really picky around dairy (it needs to be totally pill-worthy!). I definitely wouldn't eat anything with the cheese or milk, though getting a mini bottle of wine would be pretty exciting. I think most of the people I know would be more likely to drink wine than soda.
I think the cheese, crackers, and wine idea is great! Otherwise, the homemade cookies and milk. I'd skip oreos because so many people don't like them and it just doesn't seem as special as your other ideas. I'd also skip soda, since most hotels have vending machines for that and it's hard to predict what kind of soda people would like.
I love cheese & wine. I agree w/ the PP about Oreo's not seeming special and I wouldn't drink the 2% milk either (picky picky, I know)
Red wine & chocolate maybe?
@Miss Starry Night: i like the wine and chocolate idea...or maybe sparkling wine and chocolate.
Cheese and crackers is one of my favorite snacks! The wine adds a bit to it too, it's a great way to welcome guests! That's my pick for sure. =)
I voted for the rondele and wine, but in our oot bags (can't wait to show pics of them here, just haven't had the time) we put in bottled waters, some shelf stable beautifully wrapped macarons (bella cucina)and a large packet of Braves' baseball salted stadium peanuts, do not disturb signs especially made for the weekend, and a city map. They loved them!
I would love the first option cheese w/ the 4th option crackers & wine. The wine & chocolate sounds fantastic too! I don't know many people who are real fond of milk, especially when it's not cold.
Homemade chocolate chip cookies are soooo good. Not so sure about the milk though... I'd add wine or a water bottle instead. I personally don't know many people who drink white milk, especially the shelf stable one .
I'd prefer the chocolate chip cookies with regular 2% milk. I don't care for organic milk at all or anything that is not refrigerated. I don't drink wine, period.
thanks for your help so far!
@Ember78: can you explain why you prefer nonorganic milk? I don't get it. There isn't a difference in taste as far as I can tell.
I would've picked oreos and milk, except the idea of drinking warm milk grosses me out. will there be a fridge for them to chill it in? If so I'd do that. Otherwise-- I voted for the cheese, crackers, and wine.
There is a fridge in each room, but the milk will be room-temp when they get it from the front desk upon check-in.
I voted for the chocolate chip cookies and milk because I don't really like wine but I like cheese and the other three options that don't include wine.
I love cheese and crackers, but my family would think that cheese may be a little odd.
I know you stated the milk is shelf stable, but I would not find it appetizing. What about cookies and juice?
I voted for the smoked cheese and wine (just because I love smoked cheese), but am rethinking and think maybe the cheese spread and crackers would be better.
The reason I went with cheese is because if I am traveling and hungry, I want a snack with some protein, not a sweet...even though I love cookies.
OK. I think I have it. I do believe I will put the following in the bags:
1. Cheese spread
2. Crackers
3. Small bottle of juice
4. Miniature chocolates (like kisses or dove)
5. Small botte of wine

Favorite food combos...A good number of my guests are coming from out of town and I want to provide an out of town bag with a snack they will actually eat! Something yummy. Something that says I'm happy you are here and I want you to enjoy yourself...here are a couple I thought of. What are your faves?
The milk I'm talking about is Horizon milk boxes, pictured here. They are pasturized and shelf-stable.
If you have a GREAT Universally loved food combo that would be appropriate for out of town bags, please post it~
