We were already planning a wedding next year, so I knew the proposal would be coming, I just didn’t know how or when. We are avid hikers and try to go hiking every weekend when the weather is nice, unless we have other plans. He had decided awhile ago that he wanted to propose at Caesar’s head, one of our first hikes, my favorite hike, and the first waterfall hike that we ever did together. He did not want to suggest us going to Caesar’s Head, thinking I would think something is up. So last week when we were on our hike, he mentioned how some of the paths and streams reminded him of Caesar’s Head. I took the bait and said it does, we really need to go back there and we should go next weekend!
So this Saturday we went hiking there. Once we made it to the viewpoint for the waterfall, he suggested that we get a photo of us (completely normal). At this platform there are two levels, I was on the lower level and he went to the upper level to ask someone to take a picture of us. At the time there were two couples there that had hiked together. The ladies were sitting down, while the men were standing up taking pictures with their fancy cameras. He asked one of the wife’s to take a picture and also mentioned he wanted to propose and see if she would take plenty of pictures of that. She got her husband to do it instead. He came back down to my level and I was ready to look back up for the husband to take our picture with our camera when I also noticed the other husband pointing his camera towards us. Odd, but okay! Well then he started his proposal and of course I said yes!
I was definitely surprised, I did not think he would bring a ring on a hike, but it is completely us and fitting and I’m so glad he wanted to get pictures of the proposal for our memory! The other guy that took pictures was so sweet to do that and emailed them to us in case ours did not come out, or his came out better.
We look forward to the wedding!
