Save the Dates, other wedding stationary, display at wedding, on your website or for announcements!! =)
Good point! unfortunately I don't think we are doing Save the Dates, which wouldve been a good way to show them off :( but I'm thinking we will definitely display them at the wedding.. any good ideas on how we should display them, or where??
Engagement sign in book --- the guest sign in book is being made by our photographer so it will have our pictures and the guests can sign around the pics.
Also considering putting some of them on the tables at the wedding amidst the candles and flower arrangements on the table.
Lots of people use them for save the dates. You can also order custom postage stamps with your pic on them. (zazzle.com though it's expensive)
By the way, if your photographer isn't doing an engagement sign in book for you -- you can do one yourself on snapfish.com, blurb.com, mypublisher.com --- they aren't as professional quality as the professional photog's ones but they are still really cute. make sure you use a sharpie as the sign in pen or i think it will smear on the paper!
guestbook is a good idea, too, great one, @jalter!!
also, if you really loved the pics, consider using them for/with your table numbers. =)
I want to show off ours in an digital photo frame on the guestbook table.
YES krissycake - that's what i meant! using them as table numbers on our tables. would be SOOOO cute (though maybe overkill if we also do a sign in book, but i dont know)
Of course, you can also always hang them on the wall, put them on your desk at work, and have them to cherish this time in your life. Wedding photos are nice but a lot of times it's nice to have AWESOME pics of yourselves as a couple that aren't in wedding attire.
My future BIL & SIL made their engagement pictures into bottle labels for the wine they gave as favors. Maybe you could incorporate them into your favors?
We're using ours as Save the Date image, and also making books to give to parents/grandparents as gifts.
You can use them on your favors or guest book, stuff like that. We didn't...we have a few we really like that we'll put on canvas/frames and then put up in our house probably. We're still working on it though. Probably by the time we get around to it they'll be "old" pictures =]. I have brown hair in all of them and I've been blonde for like, 6 months now, so they're already a little dated =]
Thank you cards are also a great use for them. And their good for a newspaper announcement too.
We're getting some of our favorites framed and giving them to our parents.
Having engagement photo session is not just for sake of having photos.. it is kind of like getting to know more with your photographer.. knowing your best angles.. getting comfortable with each other so when wedding day comes, it would be very easy for you and your photographer to have those beautfiul shots...
Photos are keepsakes.. you may not know what to do it for now but eventually it will serve something.. -Ian
We are framing our favorites to hang around the house and also to give them out to our parents/grandparents for gifts. I've also heard of people using them for their guest book at the wedding.
We're giving them to our families as gifts and I will eventually be making a scrap book of them once we get the digital rights. And I agree with what someone else said above, it was great to get that "face" time with our photographer, so we know what to expect come the wedding day!
We areplanning to have our favorite framed and then have guests sign the matte around the photograph at the wedding.
We also have used the pictures for our save the dates, website and want to buy a few more to frame and display around the house.
We simply didn't have a lot of photos of us together, and I loved the idea of having a photo shoot and doing the engagement session. Plus, it was so nice to hang out with our wedding photographer before hand and get a little sneak peek of her style, shooting personality, etc - I know from the engagement photos we got that I'm 100% confident she's going to get some great pictures of me, and I love the processing she did on them as well. On top of that, we're going to use them for our guestbook (an oversize matte with a picture of us framed that everyone can sign), and have given some to family and friends in frames as a gift.
We're also using them on our website, our save the dates, as our profile images on social networking sites, and that was all worth it to us. I love having professional pictures of us at a fun place as a great memory of that time in our lives, and I don't feel like we need to use every single one in some way to get that worth out of them.
We're going to do the picture guestbook thing and I need at least one good picture to use in our engagement announcement. Didn't know I'd be doing one but it was a foregone conclusion to the rest of my family, apparently. Luckily, none of my current friends will ever see it since my hometown is 2,500 miles away.
I think we're going to make photo albums with our engagement photos for our parents as thank you gifts for our wedding (to be gifted during the rehearsal dinner).
You've gotten a lot of great advice already. Our clients like to use them for:
-Photo guestbooks and/or large matted signature print
-Photos to hang in their home
-Photo gifts for family and friends
-Photos to display at the wedding
-Wedding day slideshows
-Including them in or on the wedding invitation
These are GREAT ideas and they all make a lot of sense! I guess you just dont really think about all of that! but thank you all so much!
We basically just wanted to have some photos of us that weren't taken in a bar or at a party. We thought about sending an engagement announcement to the local paper with a pic, but decided not to. I know my best friend requested a copy of our photos and she's making something for us out of them, but I'm not sure what yet cause it's a surprise. We are going to be using one of the photos on our invites for our hame party after our DW. There are all sorts of options!
In addition to all the suggestions, I'd also recommend trying to get a few artsy/abstract shots of the two of you. My husband and I did all of ours in a studio; just basic portrait shots. It was fine for our newspaper announcements, etc., but we really have no use for them now. Pretty much any pics of us we have up (which is only a couple at this point--the kids' pics have taken over) are from our wedding.

I mean I know everyone has them these days (pretty much) but whats the point.. don't get me wrong I LOVE our pictures, but I have had people say "so, what are you going to do with them?" and I dont really know. I mean hang them up and save them-yes, but any other practical uses that my fellow bees know of? I just want to make sure I actually make goos use of them during wedding time.
