Just a little advice. :) All caps usually fails to get any worthwhile responses. :p

OH NO. HOW WILL PEOPLE EVER LISTEN TO ME THEN?

Engineers tend to write in all caps. I have to remind myself they're not yelling at me, it's just how specs are written, haha. It still peeves me though. Even tho i tend to cap a lotta stuff for emphasis, not to yell =]

Sometimes caps is great for sheer hilarity though.

Instead of "Talk Like a Pirate Day," we should have "All Caps Day!" Or, even better, "aLTeRNaTINg CaPz DAy!"

    I crack myself up.

Can you tell that to my friends that have to use them at all times?  Apparently they're under the impression that if you use all caps it'll make the sentence much more profound.  Not really!

I once was fighting with my best friend (we fight like sisters, she's my MOH, yikes) via text messages and it started out normal but then escalated to all caps.  I was like, "are you text yelling at me? Cuz I'm pretty sure that's retarded".  The fight ended til we had time to talk on the phone.  People make me laugh!

another one that is equally annoying is the paragraphs written in all lower case with no punctuation whatsoever and the sentences just go on and on and on and you have no commas or periods and it's so hard to read that you have to read it three times to understand what they are trying to say just write like normal

Whenever I see a post in ALLCAPS I just move on. It hurts my head to read. I also hate when people fail to use paragraphs. You don't have to use perfect 5 sentence paragraphs or anything... but if I have to scroll to read your whole response and you're still on paragraph 1? Too much. Give my brain a break.

Yes, paragraphs and sentence breaks are especially important as well.  If I see a post that's one gigantic paragraph with no periods in sight, I just have to skip it.

Fiftyfootbride - you never cease to amaze me. I'm guilty of randomly capitalizing certain words, I will admit, but I do it more for emphasis when I'm too lazy to make it bold or italicized.

And yes - paragraphs are a must. No drawn out long stories. I don't have the patience for that.

Love this thread -- fiftyfootbride, I'm raising an imaginary glass in your honor :-)  I'm such a grammar nerd, I can't stand it when people don't use commas or paragraph breaks or apostrophes. It makes things so hard to read!

SLS, I think a lot of people equate all caps with SCREAMING AT THE READER.  Personally I find it annoying to read because it makes the post seem sort of over-the-top.  And if a poster uses ALL CAPS on every other word, it loses its impact!

oh, man, I hate when people alternate all caps! It's annoying! And it's even worse when they can't spell out the words! I may not be the best speller, but for goodness sake, stop talking "gangsta" when I'm trying to read it!

I hate it when online or in email....but I am interior designed trained so IRL I print everything in caps. I can't help it since I have been doing it for drawings for more than 10 yrs. Plus you can never read anything I may try to write otherwise.

    Lol @ all of y'all.

I also love when people use texting speak in real life. In text messages or IMs, I always spell out 'you,' 'are,' etc. It drives me nuts to see on facebook or even texts stuff like

    R U GOIN? THAS GR8.

C'mon, it takes more effort to make that shit shorter than it does to actually write it all out. That was the worst example I could even think of. lol. Shows how fried I am.

(Now lol-speak is fun/funny in its own time and place. That's not what I'm referring to here. Though that does get a little old sometimes if overdone).

Fifty:  I just saw a thread (http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/looking-toni-federici-milan-veil-038-cole-haan-rose-shoes-nov-wedding) where you told a bee to be easy on the ALL CAPS, I had to see if the post dates correlate.  Its funny how you wrote this a week ago and someone just posted that, I guess they didn't get the memo!!  I just thought it was funny that I saw that and I clicked on this thread!!

I am sooo guilty of doing the all caps thing, but I can't help it.  Like talking to a friend and there's this one word or point you want to make when talking to them, you just can't help but emphasize that one word.

    Do please forgive!~!!  lol!

FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, I FEEL THAT IF PEOPLE WANT TO WRITE LIKE THIS, IN  ALL CAPS, WHO AM I TO JUDGE? THIS IS A FUN BOARD, FOR GIDDY GOOD TIMES AND FOR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, IT AIN'T TEACHER TIME WITH A RAP ON THE KNUCKLES AND A RULER. (Tho I do totally see your point, cause you probably think I'm pissed off when I write it like that, in all caps, cause the capitols look angry, instead of jocular and jovial, true.... Another example of how tone is lost in email/internet exchanges.)

I think about these word and writing issues ALL day, EVERY day, because I'm a senior editor at a mayjah magazeen. And IMHO (not saying that opinion is one iota more valid because of my work, but it's as valid as anyone's), I think if brides  -- such as MOI -- want to use caps on individual words to help get a point across, in this format where tone is so often otherwise lacking, well, god bless and keep 'em. Cause that usage actual helps convey meaning and emotion.

Ugh, I hate reading ALL CAPS!!  It really hurts my eyes and brain and I usually skip over posts that are in all caps.

Our Cantor (Jewish officient) was an elderly lady who wasn't very technologically inclined.  I'm impressed that she could even use e-mail.  EVERY E-MAIL SHE SENT WAS ALL CAPS!!!  It made me feel like I was getting yelled at, so annoying!  Also, all the forms we had to fill out were in all caps.  I guess it matched her personality though, every time she called us there was some huge crisis that really wasn't a big deal.

I Really Hate It When People Type Like This. My cousin does that all the time, capitalizing the first letter of every word... it makes me feel like everything she does on facebook is just a title of a greater work, like Going To Work Until 4 will really be an adventure, and I just don't get to see that adventure, since I'm not there for the show, lol.

I'll admit I do the random all caps words in a sentence thing, but it's just for emphasis and not meant to be screaming. I agree that so much get's lost in the translation when typing. Things can't be said in the same way is if you were just speaking.

@fiftyfootbride: I'm also not a fan of the texting speak. I too type everything out. I'm a terrible speller so I feel by typing everything out I am also working on my spelling. I don't know if that makes sense but it does to me.

I don't know if anyone else does this but I have another tab open just to google spelling of words. I usually do spell them right, but I just have to double check (and some times I still get them wrong)!

@fifty - Your posts are always great!  I write out all my words and use punctuation in my texts!

I will admit, I am guilty of writing certain words in all caps for emphasis.  One of the programs I use at work requires all caps and I hate it when I start to type and forget to turn it off.          Delete-delete-delete.

At times, I can be lazy about my punctuation, but I am a grammar nerd at heart.  Sometimes there are e-mails I get that just beg to be printed and marked up with a red pen.

A lack of paragraph breaks and the usage of text shortcuts in regular language irritates me enough that I usually won't finish reading.

    @his barista - "gangsta"  I love it!  :)

@SandDollar - I keep a well worn, old, red dictionary on my desk.  I am a terrible speller too!
