I know how you feel. It's makes me sad that at this time Americans need to come together but they seem so divided. I wish we'd all get along. Thinking about going on a vacation every four years ;)
I just don't understand why people don't respect other people's opinions. Not everyone is going to agree with you. Why isn't that okay?
I'm glad you made this post.. I can't wait for these elections to be over because people all around have been just so cruel.
@alyssaC: I cannot believe the anger... Someone called an Aussie (who was someone else's friend!) "a mindless c-word" for his post about Obama, that the world thanked America for reelecting him.... It's so upsetting.
It's all just terrible, why does having a different opinion have to be such a bad thing? I have an opinion and many people don't share that opinion but that doesn't mean I have to dislike that person and be down right rude to them. Why can't people just be civil human beings, some people still act like mindless beasts who spew anger at others just because they think differently. They rejoice in the rights they have but by degrading other people they are making it harder for people to act on their right to have an opinion and voice that opinion.
What gets me is some of the ...whats the word...two faced bullshit I've seen.
Like one girl I've known for 20 years, who has gone from voting for equality and women's rights, and pro choice...To literally writeing a 6 paragraph status about how all of us women voting for Obama are now going to hell and calling us baby killers.
It's disgusting.
Wow - I though my feed was bad! A few posts of "yeah" and "woo-hoo", and mine that I was saddened by the results, looking forward to 2016. And I got defriended over it! To be fair, this person isn't the smartest, and thought the election should be decided by Yankees vs Red Sox, but still, defriending? Now I'm not nearly as upset!!!! I just posted that I wasn't saying anymore anyways, the election is over, and that's all. I truly feel bad for those of you who are witnessing such hate - that is awful. (HUGS)
@MissDarthVader: Umm If I recall in another thread, two bees were giving you their explanations on why they aproved of Obamacare since you didn't. You said people "are lazy" in your city. One bee's mom even had cancer. What did you respond? I believe you said you didn't want to see "sob stories". Cruel if you ask me.
Anyway, I agree with you OP. Things seem way out of control. Disrespect on another level.
I think it is sad that we can't get behind our elected officials for the time being and try to move forward and instead we just keep being devisive. The people have spoken, move on and look forward to trying to change things the next election cycle!
I agree. People on my FB are calling people names, saying they are stupid, ignorant, moochers, etc. It's really sad. I feel like we should all be able to act like adults, but apparently I'm expecting too much from some.
Don't talk politics with people you know.
More than happy to talk/debate online with strangers. But posting crap on Facebook? It's down right stupid. Keep ya status' clear of politics!
Yeah, Facebook is full of stupid right now. I'm thisclose to starting a drinking game over a post I saw with 60 comments arguing about whether Obama is really black or not.
Most of the crazy will blow over soon. Hang in there.
I was just called a stupid, uneducated idiot for voting for Obama...all by someone I don't even know (friend of a "friend"). WOW!
I saw a lot of hurtful things on FB last night and it's still going on right now. It's very sad.
As a Canadian, where we master in political apathy, it's truly weird to see how emotional people get over elections, and yet heartening. At least there's interest, whereas here most people couldn't care less. I'm not sure which is more depressing - the lack of caring, or the caring so much that it becomes personal.
@BoiledPNut: Are you in Australia? Because that's also what that person was called on my husband's FB.
@ChuckNorris: Nope, I'm in the US! I understand that people are very passionate about this, but it's getting ridiculous! I cleaned up my FB list this morning though. I guarantee you that people only say stuff like that because they can hide behind a computer screen. It's still sad though.
Here is the question " are you better off today than you will be in four years" your personal response defines your mindset over the election
http://www.digiday.com/etc/buzzfeed-helps-you-replace-politics-with-cats/ - cats have gotten me through this election season :)
I agree, someone on my FB posted "Well you got your way morons" Really? Your going to just outright call some of your friends that? Wow...
@BoiledPNut: Definitely hiding behind a computer screen... Which is scary because they do not know who they are pissing off at the other side. Anyway, glad it wasn't you, I was just going to apologize on behalf of my husband's friend. But, I'm sorry that they said that to you anyway!!
I deactivated my Facebook yesterday and won't be reactivating it for a while. I got tired of getting messages from people who knew I supported Obama telling me that I was the reason this country was doomed, that I was ignorant, that I supported the murder of babies and that I had ruined their children's lives and so forth. I also got one that said they hoped I was happy because now no one would be able to find a job now that Obama was back in office. There was even some mention of me voting for the antichrist? Eh.
I never really talked about my political affiliations on Facebook so I was surprised to be getting messages.
ETA: The most ridiculous things I saw were people talking about they hoped the Mayans were right about the world ending because they couldn't take another four years of Obama. Really?
I won't be on Facebook for a while either. It just upsets me. I'll stick with WB for now.
Wow, my FB wall is calm and friendly. The Romney supporters were very calm and congratulatory, and the Obama supporters are beaming with happiness and pointing out what parts of the next 4 years they are looking forward to.
Honestly, if I had a family member who thought I was going to hell for aborting a child conceived through rape, i'd be happy that I knew how crazy they are so I could axe that negative energy from my life.
@alyssaC: Thank you. I voted for Romney. It doesn't mean I have issue with those who voted Obama. I have tried my best to stay offline the past few weeks but seriously this is crazy. I had hoped to return to the net today with a return to normal... alas it is not the case. The woman that was going to alter my dress is not so polarized Ihad to talk to another seamstress. It is really sad to see all this over an election :(
@SouthernGirl: I saw that about the Mayans too. One of my friends said that maybe the Mayans were right so start praying.
People are being really rude. I saw something about having a terriorist as our president for another 4 years. Another one was ohio can burn in hell. Seriously??? I think people are taking their political views too far on social media.
Wow, crazy. My facebook has been ebullient today - I haven't seen too many nutjob comments, even though I'm from a very conservative state and lots of my "friends" are conservative. One guy said he was looking forward to the Mayans being right about the world ending in 2012. Right, cause that's better than another 4 years of Obama. Psshh.
It really is an excuse for all the crazies to fly their racist, uneducated flags! (Not that all Republicans are that way at all, but Obama does tend to bring out a lot of those types of comments.)
@crayfish: Mine too. Almost everyone is over the moon about defeating the marriage and voter id amendments here in Minnesota. A few Romney folk posted sad-bear statuses but nothing nasty or accusatory. I did hide one convo about how being gay is a sin but I suppose you're bound to get one crazy in the bunch some times. Mostly though, it's sunshine and happiness in my FB feed.
Even the people posting passionately on my facebook and hating on STUFF and policies has steered clear of actual individuals they know as a target of hate, thankfully. Even the slightly more... uh... intense posts... aren't targeting individuals.

Just watching all the hate on Facebook right now makes me very sad. I see best friends cussing each other out and family members dis-owning each other over things that can't be changed. The election is over, everyone voted for what they believed in, can't that be enough? Apparently not because people are ripping each other a part. I just saw a woman call her cousin an evil bitch who is going to hell for aborting a child that was conceived from her being raped. I know the cousin and she almost killed herself after the rape and I feel if she carried her child she would have seriously suffered emotionally. I just don't know how people can treat their family and friends like this. I can't wait until this all dies down and I can go back to seeing fun, loving and goofing posts. I defiantly won't be getting on Facebook for a while; I should have stayed away from it tonight. Anyone else feel this way and just wishes every one can respect each other?
