I am getting married in three and a half months. This Thursday I am starting a medically supervised weight loss plan. It is 12 weeks of very low calorie diet. 800 – 900 calories a day. It will be supervised by doctors, therapists, exercise physiologists, lab blood draws, etc. I expect to lose between 50-60lb before our March 3, 2012 wedding. My current size is 20. This is a picture of the dress I am planning to get. It is a size 20 in this picture. What size should I order??? It does have a corset back, so that should help!

@tammys1977: I don’t know about the size. Sorry.
I just wanted to ask about the diet. Are you sure that you can trust the doctor recommending it? 800-900 calories seems dangerously low. I’ve always heard that you shouldn’t go below 1200. It sounds like if anyone was going to do such a diet, they should do it the way you are, but it still worries me. You don’t look like you need to lose all that much weight.
I hope you are safe and healthy! Good luck!

800-900 is well, well, well under the minimun calorie limit for anyone, and people who are a little bigger would need more than the minimum, especially over the course of several months. This is actually a pretty eating disordered calorie plan.
Sorry, I know that this isn’t what you’re asking and you’ve probably heard it all in real life, but its very risky, even with doctors watching you. You’ll be dreaming of food and at an extreme risk for bingeing behavior. If you want to loose weight, do it safely and slowly–thats the only way it will stay off. Having your wedding as a deadline for such a stressful goal will not help, either.
Order a size 20. Dresses can always be taken in.

I think you should order the size that you are now. It looks like an easy alteration if you do lose that much weight but I think the peace of mind knowing that it will fit your current weight is best. You never know how much weight you’re able to lose until you actually lose it.

With only 3 1/2 months left I would absolutely order a size 20 (or 18 if you have room in the corset).
Are you trying the HGC diet? Either way I would seriously reconsider this decision.

I’d also like to throw out there that I’ve been on WW for only 1 month (with VERY little exercise) and have lost 10lbs. I’d give that a shot with 3-5 trips to the gym thrown in for good measure.

That diet sounds like a very risky thing to do, not all docs are ethical and that scares me. I lost 38 lbs a lot healthier way, in about 3 months. I’m not here to push what I sell but if you google my screen name (without the “girl” part) you will find a lot of information on a healthier way.

800-900 calories a day will throw you into starvation mode–a minimum of 1000-1200 a day is recommended, even if you’re trying to lose weight. I’d go with the 18 or the 20. You can always have it taken in.

Curious, how tall are you?
I’m barely 5′ and my doctor told me that I can eat a little under 1200 calories (though I should stay over 1000). Petite women have different requirements from the average norm. That said, 800 cal is quite low.
I wouldn’t take a chance and stick with the 20. The gown is simple enough to alter down a few sizes.

I’d still order it in a size 20 because you can always alter the dress WHEN you hit your goal.
Be careful though, that is a low amount of calories. By the way, the dress already looks gorgeous on you!

If i were you I would order a size 20. If its too big then you can always take the dress in. Many of the ladies have already commented on the whole weight loss plan, but you did mention its a medically supervised diet by doctors etc, so good luck! You will look gorgeous either way! 🙂
