Last night J and I were watching The Office(after the delicious surprise dinner he cooked….I have no idea what I did to deserve this man!) and in the episode(Chair Model, if you’re interested), Jim and Pam were talking about him proposing, and she asked him when, and Jim told her:
“Pam, I’m not gonna tell you. I hate to break it to you but that’s not how it works…Hey, I’m serious. It’s happening. And when it happens, it’s gonna kick your ass.”
Then J pointed at the TV and said “THAT’S what I’ve been trying to tell you.”
Then he explained that this is the one thing that he gets to do, and he needs to be able to do it the way he wants…but that it IS coming. Then he talked more about how important it is to him to get my mom’s permission, but he’s apprehensive about the conversation and her ability to keep it a secret. He joked that he might have to ask her, steal her phone, and then rush and ask me before she gets the chance to call me. It was so cute!
But girls, it sounds like it’s really going to happen!!!

PS – LOVE Jim and Pam on the office!

There is so much wisdom to be taken from The Office! I think that’s cute what he said. Let him do his thing – it’ll happen. Maybe he’ll do it at a gas station halfway between Scranton and NYC…

Yay! That’s exciting! And so sweet of him to cook you dinner.
That’s pretty much what my now fiance kept telling me. On my birthday(a month before he proposed), he took me to the Melting Pot for dinner. It was the nicest, most romantic place I have ever been, too. I was disappointed at the end of the night when there was no proposal. He told me he’d do it in his own way. He did, and it was perfect!
So, I guess what I’m trying to say is, when it does happen it will rock 🙂

love it! i was never an office fan and i’ve just recently been watching since it moved to tbs. i saw that episode last night and declared it my favorite ever— they are just so freakin cute! i love that he bought the ring 1 week after they started dating. I love that he faked her out (*while on one knee* “Pam… will you………. wait for me while I tie my shoe? Oh you thought I was going to propose?” hahahaha)

So cool! I love the office. I’ll be on the look out for your “I’m ENGAGED!!!” post!

my fi didn’t ask my parents permission for that reason- my mom can’t keep a secret from anyone! i was kind of disapointed that he didn’t ask, until he told me his reason… i don’t blame him.

Lol I watched it too! Love the office.
And all I have to say is… my FH did the same thing when it originally aired, almost. Hahaha! Oh, guys. Once again relying on Jim Halpert to say the things they want to say…

LOL my husband asked my dad’s permission, but he didn’t want to ask my mom because of the fear she would tell me 🙂
But when he asked him, they really ended up blowing the cover a little bit, because when I came downstairs my dad had cracked open a bottle of champagne and there were two flutes left on the counter 🙂

@Pennedandpapered: the Melting Pot is the best! I’m so glad yours turned out in a way you loved!
@Miss Biner: Thanks! I hope I hope I hope I’ll be posting it soon!!

AAAAhhh that is so cute! @Corgitales – My FH has faked me out a few times but I have to say, I don’t appreciate it very much! I have been waiting so ardently and I feel like it cheapens it to joke about it! Like the boy who cried proposal. That’s what I get for being hopelessly in love with a sweet goofball haha!

Oh my gosh! I totally watched that last night too! and he also said something along those lines of “see im not supposed to tell you”…we were probably getting lectured at the same time! lol

Yay! I love The Office. That is probably the best piece of advice that the waiting ladies can take to heart. I think it’s just so important to not think “Oh, is THIS going to be the proposal? Is THIS? Is THAT?” because you will just end up disappointed at every dinner/vacation/nice evening out when it doesn’t happen! Don’t ruin your special times with your BFs! 🙂

Ahhh I love The Office! Jim is my fantasy boyfriend 🙂 Sounds like you’ve got a keeper: he cooks dinner, watches The Office, mirrors Jim, and appreciates the value of a surprise!

@Ashmarie03: The Office is great! And best believe I know that J’s a keeper…he’s better than the best thing I ever hoped to find. All my girlfriends get mad and shush me when I start whining about not being engaged.
Oh and welcome to the Bee!
