- Wedding: October 2010
I was bored one day and decided to write a love story… my story 🙂 and i thought i would share it with you lovely bees
It all started with a simple private message on an internet social site in 2004 “I like your nose stud”. As months went by we continued to chat and get to know one another. When the suggestion of meeting, it gave me butterflies, ‘could this guy still like me after seeing the whole me and not just my face?’ I thought.
The day finally came when we wet up a time and place to meet. I sat nervously waiting and watching every motorcycle zooming past wondering if that was…. then he finally pulled up, “omg what am I doing?” I was so nervous; there must have been a thousand butterflies in my tummy!
His eyes! Beautiful blue eye, they were the first thing I saw… then heart-melting smile ‘was I dreaming?‘
As we sat on the jetty and talked, the hours flew by without us even knowing (note to anyone planning on doing this….wear sunscreen!!!)
We moved from the jetty to the grass along the waterfront… continued to talk… then he gave me a kiss, OMG he kissed me!! little fat me? was he crazy? does he actually like me? So many questions ran through my head!
As the day started to disappear I remembered mum was picking me up. As he got back on his motorcycle he gave me one more kiss *melt* then he rode off…. THEN I turned around to see mum sitting in the van waiting to pick me up *gulp* how long had she been there? Did she see the kiss? hehehe
As I jumped into the car mum turned to me and said “he looks a bit old for you!”
We saw each other 3 more times before he asked if I would be his girlfriend, I was extremely happy. The way I was and how I saw myself I didn’t’ think anyone would have me.
As we worked during the week we only had the weekends to see each other, he would drive an hour after work (10pm) on a Friday night to pick me up then we would drive an hour back to his place… yes we would back to his place midnight. Back then I wasn’t driving so I had no idea how big of a deal that was, now that I have done that drive many times myself I know he must have really liked me to do that every weekend.
Four months of dating we decided that would do to New Zealand together, it was over there that we decided that moving in together was the right thing to do. As soon as that plane hit the ground back home in Australia my things were packed and piled into our little car and on we went. Five months may have seemed too soon for some but for us it was right.
Many years passed and our love grew, through the hard times… in the highs and in the lows. He helped me become the person I am today… he made me love myself again… and love life!
2008 came along and little did I know my prince charming was planning a wonderful surprise.
I couldn’t understand why he was so excited about my uncle coming over from New Zealand (**note for weddingbees… my uncle made my ring**)
The evening that my uncle and aunty arrived we headed over to mums place for dinner with them (even though we were having a family dinner with EVERYONE the next evening). As my uncle was putting his bags into their room mum told Craig to go look “how clean” the room was, as I started to follow to have a look as well mum quickly called out to me, I went over to her and she said “ummm … err… I had a very busy day today”…. umm ok? Weird.
The nest day I needed to get some food to make a dish for that evening dinner with the family. We headed out to the shops and Craig mentioned that he needed to get something from one of the shops at the waterfront, which I thought was odd because it was only recently that he had something from that shop. We were walking along the waterfront… me thinking we going to the shop he ‘needed’ to go to. It was a beautiful day and he suggested that we take a walk down the Jetty (yes the same one from the start of the story lol)… Still nothing was clicking in my mind.
We stood at the end looking out at the water, I turned to him and said “remember the first time we meet?” he looked back at me with those beautiful blue eyes that I fell in love with and told me hose much he loved me and kissed me gently. STILL unknowingly I walked off to look at the boat that was docked there… then something else that caught my eye. Thinking back I can just imagine him thinking “Just stand still woman!!!”
After I finished looking at everything I decided it was too windy and suggested that we should head back, I started to walk off but quickly realised he wasn’t following.
I turned around to find him getting down on one knee, which was enough to start the tears. He said “I love you with all my heart… will you marry me?” while holding my beautiful ring. At that moment everything and everyone else disappeared and all I could see was him. Everything was perfect; there is nothing I would ever change.
And so the story continues….for many many years to come
