    Hello bees:

I'm kind of bummed today. My DH got a job....but it's in Cleveland.  We live in Canada now and apparently it's a good promotion for him. I never ever ever thought I'd ever leave Canada as I love it here and I'm not sure what to do. DH has a job here and so do I, so we are really at a loss as to what to do.

We were thinking of taking a leave of absense from our jobs here and see how it goes there, or have just him do that, but wow, I cannot believe this is happening!

Why exactly does he want to take this job?  How hard would it be for you to get a job in Cleveland?  That's something you always need to consider when moving.  Also, will you be able to take a leave of absense from your jobs and be able to return afterward?  Will they pay for moving expenses and any visas that are necessary for you to enter the US?  I know you have a lot of things floating around in your head, those are just a few more things to consider.

(These aren't questions that you need to answer here, just things to think about.)

Take Cleveland out of the picture and decide if moving across the continent to another country is a good idea.  It sounds like it is a good career move for him but are you dependent on his salary?  Will it stall his career if he doesn't take it?  Is it a good enough move that it is worth the sacrifice of being away from family and friends?  If the answer to the above questions are no, then you probably have your answer.

I grew up in Cleveland.  Like any place, it has it's bad points and good points (between DH and I, we've lived in Germany, Phoenix, Chicago and Atlanta).  The good probably outweigh the bad.  The worst parts are the job market and the weather--which is why we live in ATL.  If we could find (and keep) good jobs in CLE, we would probably deal with the weather.  If you have any questions about it, PM me and I will be happy to help.

I don't have any advice about making the move any easier, but I do live in Cleveland and know the area pretty well.  If you need any recommendations, please don't hesitate to PM me.  Good luck!

    Hello bees:

Thanks for such great advice. I panicked when my DH told me this and after talking to my mom, I went straight on here to tell you ladies. Well he also ended up getting a promotion in Toronto. Which I LOVE Toronto. So I think he is going to turn down Cleveland. It's just too much of a change right now moving to a different country and getting everything in order while we are planning on ttc in the next few months or so. That would def put those plans on hold. We are looking into Toronto a bit more, but wow, is it ever expensive to live out there : )

Too funny, our saga continues! How many more coincidences can there be? I am actually originally from Cleveland. It's not that bad! In fact it's a great place to live- the suburbs, of course. I often wish we could move back but DH loves Boston too much. The cost of living in Cleveland is soo much better though! Anyway, it sounds like it is too much for you guys to consider moving that far right now, and I think Toronto is a great plan b. I have family in Toronto and it's a great place. But, if you do decide to look into CLE more send me a PM and I can answer any questions you might have! I even know some psychologists and possible employment places (community mental health centers, etc).

@monalisa670: GET OUT?! Seriously?? too funny.

My DH accepted the job in Toronto, so we are looking for places out there. He is going to move there first. His job is paying for our moving expenses etc, and we are going to look for places to live once we get to Toronto. We plan on renting a bit before we find a realtor to help us in our search. It's SO expensive to live out there though. WOW. Job Opportunity wise, it just makes most sense to get this move over with before we plan on a family.

@albertagrl:Haha, I know. Too funny. Sounds like you made the right decision though. So will this move delay your TTC plans or no?

@monalisa670: I think we've decided a move to another country would delay ttc, but since we are staying in Canada, we are (thankfully) keeping our ttc plans on track!
