That's awesome! Not only is great to get everyone together, but it's nice that your parents are hosting.
Oh, that's so lovely! I wish my folks and my in-laws could do something like that.
@ OP
I love when family and friends make you feel special :) You asked us to share our experiences, I've had a couple of the older female friends in my life step up, one has offered to buy me my underthings (corset etc) and the other wants to buy me my wedding shoes (my Mom isn't really in the picture), so that made me feel really loved!
That's so sweet!
My FMIL recently sent FI and I some money to go shopping for clothes for Christmas break (we are visiting her family in New Mexico, so we will need some good cold weather clothes). It was very unexpected and very exciting!
Thanks ladies :) With all the madness that comes with planning a wedding, it's really nice when friends and family do that kind of stuff.
@Awakenmysoul - wedding shoe purchase is awesome!!! Personally, my favourite part of the whole outfit purchase :)
@Amanda.Lynn - happy shopping! And enjoy the warm weather, lucky you!!!

Thought I'd just share this nice story :) My FI and I got engaged last April, and are getting married next September. So- lotsa time to plan and most importantly - save for the wedding. We've been so busy starting the budget, booking the important things, that we haven't had much of a chance to celebrate the fact that we're engaged!
Then I got a phone call from my mom a couple of days ago... She wants to get both families together for a nice dinner (which she and my dad will pay for) to officially celebrate the engagement! She apologized for the lateness in doing this, but it was totally understandable because there have been so mnay other big events that have happened in the last month (big birthdays, a retirement party, etc). It was such a nice offer and both my FI and I are so happy that we're going to be able to do this before it gets crazy in the new year!
Have you had any nice surprises from friends and family recently?
