I’ve been checking this site out for a while, but this is my first time posting – my boyfriend and I got engaged on Monday, March 24th!! I had an idea it might be coming, and I’ve almost posted about my exciting “waiting days” but thought I’d wait until it was official. This past week was my spring break from graduate school, so I got to come home. My boyfriend (now fiancé!) took off work so we’d be able to spend more time together, and on Saturday he told me to be ready for anything on Monday and that it’d be a surprise. I wore layers because it sounded like we might be outside…
As we were driving it felt like we were going to the Hocking Hills region, which is my favorite place in our state. He pulled off a little earlier than we usually do, though, and we pulled into a ziplining place! He casually suggested we check it out, and when we walked in they knew his name – he had already put in our reservation for a ziplining tour. Neither of us had done it before, and we were really excited to try it.
We went through the lower ziplines, and then finally got to the big ones – three 1,000 foot ziplines over a gorge with some ponds. It was so exciting and beautiful! On the 2nd one, Michael went first, which I didn’t think much of. When I finally came across and got unharnessed, I turned around and he was down on one knee. I was so surprised he was going to propose then – I didn’t expect it in that moment at all! He asked me to marry him and gave me the most beautiful engagement ring I could imagine, and I said yes.
The icing on the cake was that there was a photographer taking pictures of everyone ziplining – so we ended up having our own personal photographer for each stage of the proposal!! Then we got to spend the rest of the day hiking around the state parks, just enjoying the beautiful places and each other. It was really the perfect day! Our parents are both so supportive, and I got to spend the rest of my break planning and spending time with my fiancé and our families.
Thanks for letting me share my exciting news!
