I’ll start with the ring… This is my ring as pictured below ..I love it, it has that vintage old money feel to it… if you cant tell now you soon will but I am Vintage obsessed… My Fiancées proposal was hilarious… more on the funny side than truly romantic but exactly what I would have expected from him…..Ill have to cut a long story short as the entire process took about 1.5 hours from the beginning to the point of the ring slipping onto my finger…
Basically it all began in the summer of 2009 My Fiancée, his father and younger brother decided it would be a good idea to get onto the roof of their two story house (at night) to fix a seemingly fully functional antenna ( well so I thought)… So off they go to work on the roof while my mother in law distracted me with talk of wedding traditions ( I know should have been a dead giveaway right)…
So about ten minutes into my my wedding conversation My mother in law, Sister in Law and I hear a loud crash from the outside staircase. Up we get and rush outside to see what’s the matter only to find my then boyfriend lying face down on the staircase with a ladder on top of him….My mother in law promptly starts screaming while my sister in law calls an ambulance (to my belief). I stand frozen at the top of the stairs for what seemed like forever until the faint sound of my mother in law screaming for me to help begins ringing in my ears.
I rush down the stair case as my Father in law gently removes the ladder and begins to attempt to move my fiancée from the staircase at which point I begin hysterically crying and screaming… DON’T TOUCH HIM…WHAT IF HE IS PARALYZED…. STOP TOUCHING HIM!!!!!!! My fiancée then declares that he cannot feel his legs or breathe so we gently remove him from the stairs and lie him flat on his back in the backyard. He then informs me that his shirt is too tight and that I need to take it off. ……..
As I frantically begin to unbutton his shirt… All the while listening to the details my sister in law is supposedly giving to the ambulance drivers… I notice what looks like a sheet of paper inside his shirt…. Sure enough to my horror and 5 buttons later the secret is revealed… Staring up at me is an old fashioned style love letter reading WILL YOU MARRY ME….
I could have killed him… I almost did… the whole family was in on it and had planned it from the very beginning…WHO DOES THAT… surely I couldn’t even consider marrying someone so horrible… but his intention was pure because all along I had said I don’t care how you propose I just want it to be the BIGGEST surprise of my life…
I guess I got what I wished for..
