Awwww yay! Congratulations :) My FI proposed to me last October after we carved pumpkins too! My ring was down inside one of them when I went to put the candle in it. Makes me love the fall even more than I already did!

It happened [finally]! The best part is while i knew it was coming eventually, i was totally, totally suprised and the whole thing just rocked my world.
the story:
I had been traveling for business most of the week and friday was in the office but was exhausted. I came home after work and FI greeted me at the door and there was sunflowers (my favorite flower) in vases. "What's this?" I asked, "You've had a long week i thougth we could stay in tonight and carve pumpkins and have warm cider". There were uncarved pumpkins on the counter, cider in the crockpot- awesome! ( i had NO idea it was anything more than that). We started carving pumpkins, i baked the seeds to eat, and we were just hanging out talking. The pumpkins were finally carved and we were going to put a light in them to see how they came out- FI had bought these battery operated lights that looked like flickering candles, but needed a screwdriver to open the back. "Can you go get my screwdriver in the basement?" So i went down to get it and couldnt find it so brought up his whole tool kit, when i get upstairs, the lights in the kitchen are all off, and two pumpkins had magically appeared on the counter that said "Will U Marry me?" He had a ring box in his hand and dropped to one knee. That is when i lost my mind and started crying and repeating "oh my god ! are you serious?!"
It was absoluttely beautiful, and worth every day i waited for it. the ring is exactly what i wanted- round cut solitaire (simple, timeless, classic). We are still figuring out plans but you will surely see me shortly back on the boards asking for advice, etc.
So, so happy. :)
