Ok, so this may seem like a weird question, but my FI and I are having the toughest time coming up with a laundry system.  I really am in need of some ideas and would LOVE to hear how you and your SO/FI/DH do laundry.  I am about to move in with him and he is horrible with leaving his clothes everywhere =)  He swears that won't happen when I'm officially there.  That time has come, but we aren't sure what to do...

    - Do you have laundry baskets in your bedroom?  Bathroom?  Laundry room (our laundry isn't big enough for dirty laundry)?

    - Do you do your own, and he does his?

    - Do you do his for him?

We have a hamper in our bedroom (but it's a nice looking one) for our clothes and a laundry basket in a closet for towels.  With the exception of sheets or a full load of towels, I do ALL LAUNDRY!!  I don't trust him enough to know what to dry and what to hang.

We have a laundry basket in the bedroom right outside of the bathroom.  Everything goes in there.  I do all the laundry because then I don't have to worry about him accidentally washing something in the wrong way or something.

we have a laundry basket in the bedroom and one in the laundry room. we put everything in those but obviously use the one in the bedroom more. I do all the laundry because i am faster. he knows how to do it but it is more efficient if i do.

We have the laundry basket in our bedroom. We usually do laundry together on weekend, however I sometimes do laundry alone on weekday if it's full. I only wash what's in the laundry basket. If it isn't in there, it won't be washed.

We each have our own laundry basket in our bedroom, and we each do our own laundry separately since we like our stuff folded differently.  I do the towels and sheets too.

We are responsible for our own laundry- he does his and I do mine.  We take turns washing towels and such.

I am the person who sorts all of her laundry by color, fabric type, etc. and does about 10 mini loads, including some handwashing.  He piles everything he has together (whites, colors, whatever) and bangs out 2-3 loads on Sundays.

When our baby arrives I have no idea what our laundry situation will turn into....to be continued ;)

We each do our own laundry since FI does his twice as often as I do (I hate doing laundry, more particularly, putting it away). I put mine in the hamper most of the time (or move it there when the pile in the bathroom builds up). His ends up on the floor. His mom got him a hamper last Christmas but it ended up becoming a laptop stand for when we hook the laptop up to the tv to watch movies Embarassed  Either one of us will do the sheets/towels as needed. Just whoever grabs them does them.

We have a laundry basket in our bedroom and one in our laundry room but our laundry room is off of the kitchen which is a good 5 rooms from our bedroom and bathrooms. Pretty much all of the laundry goes in the basket in the bedroom and I use the basket in the laundry room for clothes I dont feel like folding right away (sometimes a girls gotta be lazy!). I'm good about throwing my clothes in the laundry basket but FI's NOT. I've lived with this for over 5 years now so picking up his laundry and putting it in the basket doesn't really bother me but it would be nice if he would learn to do it!

As for doing the laundry, I do it all. On occasion I'll ask him to switch a load if he's up or I'm not home though, no matter how many times I show him what setting to put the dryer on, he never gets it right.

We have to walk our laundry to the laundry room so we do it together on Sundays.  We combine all of our stuff together to get good sized loads, usually 3 or 4 loads depending how many towels.  The laundry basket is in the bedroom, but both of us get lazy and sometimes leave clothes on the ground in the bathroom.  :(

we have 3 laundry baskets in our closet: darks (or anything that gets washed on cold), lights (or anything i want washed on hot), and towels. I do all the laundry. Its just part of our negotiated household agreement (ex: I do all the laundry, shopping, and cooking... but I don't have to do yard work like mow or shovel or take out trash.)

FH does have a habit of changing wherever in his apartment and leaving the clothes where they fall. Now that I've been spending more time there and doing my laundry there he has been better with picking them up. He keeps his "baskets" (rubbermaid storage bins) in the hallway outside the laundry closet and in his closet.

Right now we do our own, I just do my laundry at his places because the machines are in the actual apartment and my complex charges an arm and a leg. We will probably remain doing out own when married.

yes, i have a laundry basket in the bathroom but hubby never uses it, he puts his dirty clothes in the bathtub... which is right next to the laundry basket

he also likes to leave his dirty clothes in a pile outside the bathroom/in the hallway - but hes trained to put it in the laundry room every day or so

Do you do your own, and he does his? Do you do his for him?

i do all chores in our home but take the garbage out and and clean his toilet

We have a wicker laundry basket in our bedroom, but can go a couple of weeks before having to do laundry, so it usually spills over into a large rolling suitcase.  We both are guilty about leaving our dirty clothes around, but its usually not for that long because our apartment is so tiny.  When there is a ton of stuff strewn about, it gets pretty claustrophobic.

We combine our laundry and sort it all together (colors/darks/jeans/whites), wash/dry it, then fold our own stuff because he is very particular in how he likes things folded.  I am not as picky, and am usually done first, so i match his socks and fold his boxers.  Its really one of our so-cute-its-sickening times.

We have a pretty sophisticated laundry system lol...we have a hamper right outside the bathroom, and it has 3 compartments: 1 for whites, 1 for darks, and 1 for anything wet (towels, washcloths, etc). Then FI has a separate basket for his work clothes (he is a miner and coal dust gets EVERYTHING it touches dirty!)

I do most of the laundry, just because when we tried to do it separately, we wasted SO much water. A few of my jeans being washed then some of my shirts, followed by a few of his jeans didn't make sense when we could throw them all together! I do all colors and whites on Wednesdays and towels and sheets on Sunday. He helps fold and put everything away.

    It works perfectly for us!

We have a hamper in our bedroom with two sections. One is for my clothes and one is for his. It's really just so that his nasty gym socks and sweaty gym clothes don't touch mine! He sometimes lets them fester in there for a couple of days and I don't want my nice tops to get soaked with his sweat.

When the hamper starts filling up, I sort it all into lights/darks/delicates and then do all the laundry. I don't mind if his nasty stuff touches mine then, because it's only for a few minutes before they go in the wash. I don't let him do our laundry because he doesn't know what items of mine need special care, but it's more economical if we combine our loads of laundry. It's alright, he takes the garbage down, which I HATE doing!

2 laundry baskets in the bedroom & 1 right outside the door of the bathroom (no room in the actual bathroom).

I usually do laundry because I have more time & our laundry room is only open until 10pm, but he likes doing it on the weekends if I ask. I always fold.

I gotten used to him leaving clothes everywhere, and except for socks he's pretty good about putting it on the sofa, etc. I just have to do a sweep for any clothes before heading downstairs. :)

We each have a hamper in the bedroom (where most of our clothes end up) and then we have a hamper in the spare bedroom for his work clothes (he is a fisherman, and the spare room is on another level in our apartment so I don't have to worry about it stinking up our bedroom!).

I do all the laundry, but wash our clothes separately.  We are both pretty lazy when it come to sorting laundry.  Sometimes, I will gather enough to do an all white load, but that's pretty rare.  I try and was his fish clothes only with other fish clothes.

We have 2 clothes hampers. We have a nicer one in our master bathroom that we use for dirty clothes. The other is in our laundry room and that one is used for dirty towels, sheets, and/or blankets.

I do all of the laundry with the exception of his work clothes. His uniforms get washed every night or every other night and he takes care of that when he gets home.

I'm sort of a laundry fanatic. I really like doing laundry. We have three baskets in the bedroom (colors, whites, darks). I do the laundry because no one else is allowed to touch the washer & dryer. I also have a basket for clean clothes out of the dryer and one for "not so dirty - I can still wear these" clothes.

Well we just moved and our washer and dryer is now right outside of our bedroom so this is going to help a lot. Before we had WAY too many laundry baskets - I dont know where they all came from but I think we had 6 total! Now that we moved I have done all the laundry and reduced the laundry baskets to just 2 - both in our bedroom closet.

When the basket gets full I just pop in a load.

Folding is the worst for me so I usually grab a beer or glass of wine, put on a movie or trashy TV (last night we watched Home ALone while I did this) and then I just sit on the couch and fold. Once everything is folded I make sure to put it away that night or the next day or else it never gets put away!!

We have two nice-looking hampers in our bedroom - one for me, one for husband.  We do all of our laundry separately because neither of us likes the way the other does it.  :o)  I, however, wash all the sheets and towels because my husband doesn't believe in fabric softener and I LOVE it, especially for sheets and towels.

We have one laundry basket in the closet that shares a door with the bathroom. I will probably end up getting a second one so that we can sort lights and darks as we are tossing them in.

I do the laundry for both of us, although sometimes he will toss it in for me if it is already separated.

DH has a habit of leaving clothes in the guest bedroom (we have a two bedroom apartment with small-ish rooms, closets, and bathrooms so he does his getting ready in the other room). We decided that all clothes from the day have to be put in the laundry basket, hung up, or folded and put away before going to bed.

We have two baskets (mine and his) each in our bedroom closet.  We have to wash his clothes every weekend because he needs all of his work stuff clean to travel again on Monday morning.  I can usually go two weeks without washing my clothes so we keep them separated so we can finsih up more quickly when we really only to do his wash.

I do all the laundry (especially if any of my clothes are involved - DH doesn't know what to lay flat to dry).  But I alwasy make DH bring the clothes he wants washed to the washer/dryer which gives him the chance to pick up dirty clothes he hasn't actually gotten to the basket and get them washed.

We have one laundry basket in the bedroom and we have another in the bathroom...the one in the bedroom is divided, so we use one side for cold and the other for warm, so I don't have to sort when I throw things into the wash. The basket in the bathroom is for hot wash (towels, dishcloths). Once in a blue moon he'll do the laundry but pretty much it's all my job. Ever since we got the new machines I don't mind so much!

We both have our own laundry basket and pretty much do our own laundry. Not because we do our laundry differently, but just so the chore itself is split in half. It works out beautifully. :)

We have a hamper in our bedroom (bathroom isn't big enough, and I don't like dirty clothes getting all damp from the bathroom humidity, since we don't have central air. It'd be mildew city). We both do laundry, it just depends on who is busier and who is in a more giving mood ;-). We have to go to the basement entrance outside our building to access the laundry room, so when it's snowing or really cold, my husband will be super sweet and do the laundry for me!

We have one hamper in our closet for our street clothes & whatnot, basically everything but his work clothes--for which we have a separate hamper downstairs right next to the W/D.

We also have a small hamper in the bathroom for towels & etc.Our son has his own hamper in his room.

I wash my things, kidlet clothes, and linens. I make a point of NOT washing my partners things, unless he has asked me as a favour, because I am not his mother*. He has a bad habit of leaving random socks on the floor, despite having hampers, and also tends to leave things to the very last second to be done, but that is his loss.

**I do 97% of all the housework & child rearing, so I am pretty inflexible on certain things... like washing his filthy work clothes.

We have three hampers in our bedroom.  One for his regular clothes, one for his work clothes and one for my clothes.  There is a fourth hamper in my daughter's room.  FI does all his own laundry and I do mine and my daughter's.  We both wash all the sheets and towels on a semi-regular basis.

It works for us because he's very particular about how his clothes are folded and put away, while I'm not.  His clothes get put away right and mine get put away...eventually.

We have one hamper in the master bathroom, and we both do laundry with whatever is there. It depends on our schedules and what we have going on, but he's not opposed to throwing in a load or folding. I've trained him pretty well that whenever in doubt, wash it on cold!

Laundry is, and has always been, the bain of my existence. We have clothes all over our bedroom. Thank God my fiance is as messy as I am with clothes!

My fiance and I moved in together 2 years ago and I told him that I refused to do his laundry. Well that lasted all of 6 months! Now I will do all my own laundry, and often do his washing and folding. But sometimes I'll force him to help me fold laundry when we watch TV.

Maybe you guys could each have your own baskets? And then be responsible for your own?
