Weddingbee boards

If you read my last post, you know that although we had decided to get married next year, we had both decided for financial reasons that there would be no engagement ring (read: I told him not to worry about it) While I was somewhat bummed, I am a practical enough person to realize that a financially sound future is far more important than a sparkly piece of jewelry.

Then I found that little slip of yellow paper, and immediately my mind went to, "That must mean he has a ring! But how?!! He couldn't have possibly saved up for it already! I thought we decided no ring?"

Then I had all but convinced myself that I had imagined the little slip of paper.

Fast forward to this past 4th of July weekend. Saturday night, we take a walk in the riverfront park in Charleston, he is acting so so strange, I naively wonder why, because, truthfully, a proposal was the last thing I expected. We find a quiet bench, we asks me why I love this park. Que quizzical "What have you been sniffing?" look from me. He says, "so I have a question for you" He gets down on one knee and asks, "Will you do me the honor of marrying me May 1st of next year?" I cry (woah did not anticipate the girly sissy crying), nod yes, and a random crowd of tourists walking behind us erupts in cheers and congratulatory shouts. That made me laugh so hard, i don't know why.

It was simple, it was sweet, and the coolest part about the ring? It was my mother's ring from her marriage to my Dad. FI had it changed to white gold and it sparkles like a new penny. I love it because it's an heirloom, and I love it because it makes me think of him every time I look at it.

So there you have it!! I am all "official" now.

How sweet!!! What an amazing surprise!! And I'm sooo jealous! This was the first July 4th in like 5 years that I wasn't in Charleston! Congrats on being "all official now" :)

I forgot to tell you guys! As we were walking away from the park he asked me, "NOW why do you love this park?" I answered, "because it's where you proposed"

That's such a lovely proposal story. And how sweet of him to go and get you the ring anyways even though you said not to. Congrats!
