I think your wedding sounds beautiful. I’ve still not decided on what I want I love the idea of a big over the top wedding, but not sure I can be bothered. I’ve got lots of time to decide, still not sure i could go as simple as you are though.

I love this! Your wedding day will be perfect because it’s exactly what you want it to be! Congratulations!

Shy1:  It is a very nice way of doing things, My Fi has kidney failure and I am worried of over doing things and him not being able to cope with a huge day! I could strip things back and have quite a small wedding, it’s sad but we have lost a lot of friends since FI became ill, only our immediate family and closest (or true) friends will be coming.

I think I may do plan a few different scenerios and see. Lots to think about!

Shy1:  love it! We had a pretty simple low-key wedding as well- after we scrapped plans for a big extravaganza. It was amazing and I really don’t regret it one bit =) We are both very frugal ppl and just kept thinking of all the other places & ways we could have spent the same amount of $$ and it had an even more drastic effect on our day to day lives (pay down debt or a car, go on a vacation, pay down student loans, save for a house, etc.)…. Luckily, my family is the same way and was all for it! I did get a pro photographer, but only because I’m very interested in photography and knew if I didn’t have great pro pics I would be super pissed looking back (I’m very harsh on pictures lol)..  But we negotiated his packages down to just 3 hours and it cost us less than $700 so I thought it was an awesome deal!

I feel the same way. A lot of wedding traditions are outdated and misunderstood. My wedding will be about us and our love for each other.

I’m having a simple ceremony with immediate family only. We will greet out families, together, in the parking lot and hike with them to the location. His brother will be our officiant. We are taking them out to a very nice restaurant. After dinner we will be coming back to our place to enjoy some tasty treats and drinks and good ol’ pumpkin carving (for the little girls, of course).

We have hear a little bit of crap from our extended family, friends, and coworkers. Apparently, we are being cheap. It’s not that at all… we just want it to be about us and our love for each other.

Shy1:  My wedding will be very similar. No photographer, engagement photos, bridesmaids/groomsmen, DJ, Save the dates, or any reception things (dances, centerpieces, favours).

We are having a church ceremony with only parents, sibling and grandparents. Then going out to a nearby [lovely] restaurant for dinner. I will be wearing a wedding dress though (which I’ve already purchased) and FI will be getting a custom tailored suit.

I haven’t decided what to do for the bouquet yet but I’m not ruling anything out. I suggested picked wildflowers the day of and FI didn’t like that idea for some reason haha. So they might be fake, real from a florist, or a farmer’s market…who knows.

Decor would be non existent except his mother wants to make pew bows so I told her to do whatever she wants because it doesn’t matter to me lol

cc1791:  That sounds so sweet! I’m getting some flack for the “immediate family only” wedding too. Silly things like “why get a wedding dress unless you’re going to go ALL OUT” ?? Huh? Lol so don’t feel too bad!

Shy1:  FWIW I also feel I don’t relate to subjects, not just here, but on Pinterest, wedding magazines, all of the things I “should” be planning, my sister’s wedding, etc.

None of it appeals to me. BUT it does make me feel like I’m forgetting something when I hear “OMG THE CENTERPICES! CHAIR SASHES! BRIDESMAID DRESSES!” lol
