Tonight I was talking with my boyfriend and brought up a question about where do you see yourself in five years? We had touched on the topic before, and his response was hard to understand so I asked him to tell me exactly what he meant. One thing he had told me previously, because I was upset I had said in five years I see myself home alone. Well, he went on to say that yes, but in five years from now you’ll be home alone until (enter specific time) someone comes home, and then you’re not home alone anymore. Well, I asked him what did he mean? Was he talking about himself, or someone in general.
He said he visualized himself being the one coming home to me five years from now, but put as someone in general because he didn’t know if that’s what I wanted. I asked him if it scares him that I really want that. That I want to be the one he comes home to every single day, five years from now. He told me no, it didn’t scare him at all. It made him happy.
Needless to say I almost blurted out, “So what do you think about marriage?” but stopped short and said I needed to get off the phone. I want to save that for when we’re face to face, which should be within the next five – six months. I hate that I have to wait that long, but right now neither one of us can afford to make the trip. Finances isn’t the issue, it’s more of our jobs, and school and such. So, to me this sounds really, really good. He makes me so happy. Hopefully by year’s end I’ll have a date set beside my name if the relationship keeps going strong.
Eidt – What does it mean when a guy says his mind is all over the place??
