- Wedding: October 2011
I’m nearly 4 months away from my wedding being here and I’m still doubting how it’s going to look. I gave myself a year and I’m not sure even that was enough time. I might be in over my head. All of you brides planning a wedding with less time, I have great respect for you! I’m asking for your opinions on what I have this far and any ideas you might have.
Colors: Navy and Lime
Theme: Southern (it’s at a plantation in Tennessee) fall (October wedding) Military (my fiance just got out of the marines)
Bride: Maggie Sottero Jenna dress in diamond white
All white Bouquet maybe a little bling to accent the dress
Bridesmaids: long strapless navy dresses
green flowers? ideas for their bouquets?
Groom: Dress blues
Groomsmen: black tux, navy vest, navy tie with beer (hops, barly, and wheat) design in lime
I want to use hops somehow in the groomsmens boutonnieres yet tie it in with the bridesmaids flowers as well.
Ceremony decor: Ceremony is taking place in from of a large magnolia tree (I love Steal Magnolia!). I thought about buying fake magnolia blooms to put here and there since it wouldn’t be in bloom in October. I have 6 lanterns that are pretty good size to line everyother row on the aisle and I’m considering adding petals on the sides as well so it isn’t so plain. The other idea I had considered was hanging them from hooks and alternating with pomander balls made of green flowers.
Reception: Is outside on a large porch connected to the house (tent coverred). Approx 8 to 10 round tables with white table cloth (came with the venue). I have 11 sets of the small medium and large vases and plenty of votives. Candle light is really important to me! I’m just not sure what to put in the vases. Since navy flowers aren’t really an option unless I wanted to use silk, I’m worried that the green will be overwhelming. Thoughts?
Food: I’m serving finger foods on a large buffet table inside the house (onion petals, chicken strips with ranch, honey mustard, and buffalo sauce, bbq pork sliders, and potatoes fries with cheddar and various toppings. Drinks will be sweet tea (of course), green punch, water, beer, and wine.
Cake is 3 tiered square cake white butter cream with a white damask print and the middle tier will have a blue fondant bow wrapped around it with a green brooch in the center. Grooms cake is a UT football field with a bucket rising out of the center that will be filled with a couple different beers.
So now you have a basic idea of what I have. I’d really appreciate any input!
