I think that is really sad, it would be nice to hear about some sort of longer than one day community support!
VistaGirl- at the very end of the article it mentions that the church is working to find them some affordable housing and getting together some furniture and housewares to set them up. So I think they are getting longterm help to get their lives on track.
It's touching to know, there are still good people out there that will help people in need. Its amazing to see a community pull together to help.
