Hello bees! I am getting married at Willow Ridge Manor. It’s in Morrison, CO right near red Rocks. The house itself is a classic manor house but relaxed and felt joyful when I visited. We are trying to keep our feel to the wedding while making it elegant and romantic (two things I love but often am not, at all). thinking light blue, light green, and yellow with ivory touches.
If at the end of seeing my inspiration stuff below you think it’s not a good idea, feel free to say so! We have a second option of royal blue and green.
General Idea Board!
3 foot/ 36” Balloons
These 36” bad boys will maybe be placed to line the aisle (every third chair since they are massive) and possibly tied to a vintage book at the reception table to add a pop to an otherwise white room with high ceilings that we cannot hang stuff from.
I’m hoping this would come across as playful but classy if done in a rich green and blue. Would also let me work ahead/ order ahead of time and not worry as much about my want to avoid fake flowers. Plus these would make for rockin party pictures. Bridesmaids each carry a giant one and groomsmen/parent/grandparent would each get a boutonniere. Guests would each get one at their seats to wave as we walk hand in hand down the aisle.
The boutonnieres/small pinwheels were made by Twirliewhirlies and the bouquets by Rule42, both on etsy.
Mailbox Cardholder: it’d have our names/handprints and we’d use it at our first house.
Would love the above cake topper with either the UP house, the Ellie and Carl chairs, or figurines of Carl and Ellie.
Tons of people make these on etsy. Will post who made the cake one when I refind it, looked for an hour and couldn’t 🙁
So, all a good idea? Some? Has anyone used this kind of stuff in their wedding?
I’d also love to know what you’re favorite components of your wedding are/were and how you came to choose them.

I think you nailed it. The venue goes very well. Everything is airy, light, and playful. And anyways, why not embrace that childhood feel? You could do cupcakes and have board games or something. Or a piñata haha. On the other hand, if you want strictly whimsical and romantic, I think this is more in the direction of playful and clean. To go more romantic I think it needs something… Can’t quite put my finger on it. Like flowers or nice framed pics, something to make it more about romance. I think right now it looks more celebration than romance (as in more birthday party than marriage). Don’t get me wrong, I think it looks great, just commenting based on the adjectives you used. 🙂

@brocaknows: you read my mind. What I’f left out is that we are having vintage books on the tables with mason jars with candles and a few bud vases with the cabbage roses. I also like your style, board games? hadn’t even thought of maybe setting up a couple of games of checkers or other old timey games. Thanks!
Tables will look like this probably! The balloon would be tied to the book and be well above the tables. Comments on this pic welcomed too.

Just stopping by to say love, love, love! We were thinking about using the giant round balloons (bought some to see what the effect was) in our decor as well (we’re also using mason jars). We had been thinking about putting them on the ceiling as a substitute for paper lanterns, but your post gave me the inspiration to use them to showcase the table numbers above the tables. I hadn’t even thought of that – I guess that’s what fellow bees are for!
Also, FH and I have been perusing the pinwheel etsy shops you linked – don’t know if you have flower girls or not, but how cute would something like this be for them?

I love it! I think it will be soooo cute!

I really love all the different details you plan on using and I think the colours will work really well together. But like brocaknows I think you just need to add maybe one more element to keep it romantic and elegant. Maybe in the paper stuff like your invitations and so on? Regardless I would love to see your ideas for that.
oh and I think if you use a pretty ribbon on the balloons for your centerpieces the ends could be tucked into the books so they look like bookmarks, but thats just a suggestion.
I can’t wait to see this all come together!

I agree with others…think it will be phenomonal! My favorite part is re-using the mailbox in your first home.

Sounds like you’re doing a great job bringing everything together!

Love it! I’m not a balloon person, but I love Up. And I love your centerpiece pics!

You are doing an amazing job! Your wedding will be all that you want it to be.
For the romance ingrediant have you thought of placing pictures around the room in similar frames?
Pics of you and your FI, pictures of your parents and grandparents?
Or, do something like this?

I’m doing both buntings and pinwheels 🙂 I think your wedding will be lovely.

@mandi.pitt: those are so cute! maybe that will be part of the kids’ gifts since we have around 10 at the ceremony/reception. THe owls are too adorable and really add something special. Table numbers?! Why on earth didn’t I think of that? We’ve been trying to think of how to deisgnate table number and that’s perfect. maybe with a stencil that’s pretty.

I think it’s very nice everything you are going with. It’s fun, youthful and sweet.

I think it’s a wonderful idea!

Maybe I’m biased because Mr Q and I both love UP, but I think this seems super sweet and whimsical. I love the idea of doing a mailbox for your cardbox – do you think you’ll be able to actually use it for mail at your home in the future, too? (That’d just make me smile to see it every day.)
