How would you feel and what would you think if you were invited to a wedding at the National Aquarium? Do you think “Kid’s Birthday Party” or “Wow. That’s different”??
It would be closed to the public and the guest would be allowed to wander through the place (certain places) to explore. Also note we are only have 5 or less children coming.
Do you think it could be elegant? Like “Formal Attire Required”” type of elegant??

@MrsDiddles: I live close to the South Carolina Aquarium and they even have a section on their website for weddings. People have their weddings there all the time. I even thought it would be nice to have my wedding there, but I want a more casual wedding. I think it’s a great idea and a formal event at the aquarium would be beautiful. I would LOVE to go to a wedding there!

One of my BMs had her wedding reception in the aquarium section of the Minnesota Zoo, and it was AWESOME. I thought it was so much fun. Go for it!

Our first wedding venue idea was the National Aquarium in Baltimore. One of our common hobbies is saltwater fish, so it fit perfect. You could easily make it a ‘classy’ event, or not so formal if desired. It’s easy to go both ways with an aquarium!
If it wasn’t for the cost and parking situation (plus non of our family being local to it), we would have definitely gone with it.

I would have LOVED to have my wedding at the Aquarium in Baltimore. I thought it was too expensive for us, but any wedding there could be beautiful, unique, and fun.

We looked at doing one at the Monterrey Aquarium when we were thinking destination wedding and yes it would have been black tie – I say go for it

I feel like a wedding at an aquarium would be so elegant… kids birthday party didn’t even come to mind. I had to laugh at the last picture you posted, that table looks so unhappy! (but probably for a different reason than being at the aquarium)

I looked into an Aquarium wedding but since there are none close decided not to go with it. I didn’t want to plan a long distance wedding. I LOVE the idea and think it can be as formal as you want it to be.

I’m a wedding planner and in Connecticut there is an aquarium in Mystic that has weddings. It’s one of the most popular new requests by brides that contact me. I love it and have thrown some of the most elegant affairs there, and being surrounded by the whimsy of the aquarium is an added bonus.

I might be just a tad biased… AWESOME (I’m an aquarium bride myself).
We are marrying in a church, with just the reception at the aquarium. And fish is also a mutual hobby. It fit us perfectly and since it is a not for profit organization- we don’t pay ZERO taxes 😀

I think it would be an awesome idea, and people will always remember “that really sweet aquarium wedding” I love the idea.

I would have given anything to have been able to get married in the Baltimore Aquarium. My Fiance was supposed to propose in the rain forest but I kinda sorta ruined it a week before Valentines day LOL. We love Baltimore in general… the aquarium is beautiful and so in Inner Harbor It would be an amazing place for your special day. I wish we could afford it =(

The NJ State Aquarium is a pretty popular place to get married near me – it looks REALLY cool. I know my sister thought about it too, but it was a) pretty expensive and b) kind of in a ghetto (though with some nice views of the Philly skyline).
The only thing I ever wondered was about the potential for fishy smell….
