Confession: I never wanted a wedding.
I realize how odd that sounds, however, after being in several wedding parties and witnessing the major emotional upheaval and terror that weddings could bring I was just turned off. My friends describe me as “man-like” in my lack of emotions so you could only imagine how hard it was for me to see brides i knew and loved become insane as their wedding planning progressed.
Cue 3 years into the future, and I’m suddenly planning my own wedding. “Why didn’t you just elope?”, you ask? The problem? The love of my life is Catholic, and if anyone wants a wedding, it’s going to be a Catholic. LOL He’s amazing, so it’s worth it.
So I reluctantly went to my first dress fitting and I admit that I was terrified. I am not some fashion hound that understands things that are bridal. Everything is white. Everything is bedazzled, satin, fitted or flared. I neither understood these terms, or felt like myself in any of the dresses. I actually felt despair, cause I wanted some God-like miracle to happen, where the clouds would open up and God would just pluck some awesome dress out of the racks (preferably on discount!) and say to me, “God’s here for you *fist bump*”.
Then came the second dress fitting. Love. at. first. sight. Between the beading and the incredibly romantic tulle skirt, I was in awe. I am not sure what made this *my* dress, seeing as I never really had a set idea as to what i wanted, but everything about this dress made me feel pretty.
So there you have it, this reluctant bride is now stoked that I’ve got a huge ball gown full of tulle and beading. I told my friends, that they may have to push me down the aisle as it’s so huge! LOVE IT!!!!!!
So there you have it, Allure 8952

@Pokemon: LOL!!!!!! I know!!! I was expecting to just go with something simple, but apparently I really dig massive amounts of tulle! Who knew??!!! 😀 All it took was an amazingly patient consultant to eye me up and down and say “I think I have the dress for you”.
@Mollytov: Lisa’s Bridal, the one and only!!!!!
@sommertime: Thanks for the compliment!!!!

Weddings bring terror and emotional upheaval? Not for many. Maybe for the overly dramatic.
Congratulations on the dress. It’s lovely!

Beautiful!!!! Thanks for posting/sharing this photo and your story because I am also looking at this dress for myself and LOVING it. I tried it on in champagne but I would like to see how it looks in white or ivory. Is yours white/silver or ivory/silver? Thanks so much!!!

@vmanserra: The one i’m wearing in the pic is the champagne colour, but the one i ordered is in ivory with silver beading. I LOVED the champagne but my ultra conservative mother pitched a fit, so ivory it was! I have a feeling it’ll be super BLING. It’s coming into the store around January, so we’ll see how it is then!!!
@maudemaisha: thanks for the kind words!!! *fist bump from a fellow Canuck*
