I went off the pill last month. We had unprotected sex February 2 and, according to my phone app, I ovulated on the 4th. ive been due for my period for a week now and still nothing, not even spotting. I’ve had no nausea and haven’t had to pee more than usual. My boobs felt kinda “bruised” when touched for a little bit but that kinda went away. I read that going off the pill can delay your period but I’ve always been regular while on it. I took a test midday about 3 days ago and I did it wrong…I read the directions last haha. It was negative. Im scheduled for X-rays in 2 days for something and idk what to do. opninons?

@futuremrsbc: Test again. Use first morning urine (FMU), and a first response early results (FRER) test.
ETA: You probably don’t need FMU if you actually ovulated on the 4th, you should have plenty of hormone to use a test midday.

Definitely test before the xray as it is harmful if you are pregnant. If it’s scheduled and no aunt flo, I’d even consider confirming with a blood test before.

If you didn’t use the last test correctly, you need to POAS again.

I agree with testing again since you’re having an X-ray. But it’s VERY possible you aren’t pregnant. Coming off birth control can really screw with your cycles and an app prediction of ovulation, for many if not most people, is not accurate.

@futuremrsbc: Going off the pill can alter your cycle so this is a possiblity but with having unprotected sex pregnancy is also possible. Many ladies I know have gotten pregnant immediately after stopping the pill.
Go and get a First Response Early Results test at your local drug store and pee! First thing is the morning is best or do a three-four hour hold and pee again. It is definitely important to do before your x-rays.

test again like others said. also though i would be curious what phone app you’re using (like are you temping/charting or is it just based on a 28 day cycle or what) & whether you are actually due for your period. also your period being regular while on the pill has zero to do with whether it will be when you stop. one of the purposes of the pill is to regulate your period.

Post pone your X-Ray, just in case. They will ask you if there is a chance that you are pregnant and your answer is yes. Just wait a few weeks to be sure either way.

Your period may be late because you stopped taking the pill and your cycle needs time to regulate. An app can’t tell you accurately when you’re going to ovulate unless you’re charting basal body temp among other things — it can only estimate, and it’s likely that it’s not estimating correctly due to how recently you stopped taking hormones.
You have about a 4 day window prior to ovulation and 1 day after to get pregnant, so it’s POSSIBLE you are, but given that you just stopped the pill it might be unlikely. Test with FMU and a pink dye FRER and see what happens. 🙂

@futuremrsbc: my hpt showed negative for three weeks past my missed period and I was indeed pregnant

@futuremrsbc: Your cycle might just not have regulated yet coming off the pill, so you might have ovulated late (or not yet). Or, you might be pregnant. I’ll echo previous posters in suggesting that you test first thing in the morning with a FRER. If you still haven’t gotten either a positive or AF by the time you go to get your XRAYs, I’d suggest you simply tell them that you may be pregnant (that your period is late but you haven’t tested positive), and ask them to test you. A blood test would be best, as the pee tests they use in the office are the same as what you would use at home.

@futuremrsbc: Cycles can take AGES to regulate after coming off the pill, it sounds like that’s the cause but agree with PP’s do another test just in case!

@futuremrsbc: When you go in for an xray, mention that you might be pregnant (they will probably ask you anyway) and they will give you a pregnancy test before doing any xrays. That way you know for sure.

have you had AF since you came off the pill? are you sure you ovulated? just because your app said, doesn’t mean you did.
but if you think you are, take an FRER with FMU tomorrow.

I didn’t ovulate for four weeks after I went off the pill… then AF arrived two weeks after that. Of course, since I just assumed I had ovulated two weeks after going off the pill (I started charting like halfway through the cycle) I wasted SO much money and stress testing thinking I was pregnant.
That’s not to say you culdn’t be, but just know that your cycle could take a while to get back on track. For what it’s worth, my cycles have been very regular ever since then 🙂 That first one was just a doozy.
