I’m trying to grow my hair for the wedding and on some bees’ advice I started (somewhat sceptically) taking supplements with biotin a week or two ago. I was going to take prenatals but it was much cheaper to get a cheaper multi-vitamin which also contained those vitamins and I figured it couldn’t do any harm. I’ve never taken supplements before as my diet is very varied and healthy so I was interested to see what a difference it would make.
Already I’m noticing my nails are in much better condition. Usually they flake and are really brittle all the time, but I’ve managed to grow them to a reasonable length, although I’m not sure whether that also has to do with the fact that I’ve been wearing more nail polish than normal.
My hair is also feeling much softer, even when I don’t condition it. I’m not sure if it’s my imagination but it seems like these multi vits are really doing me some good!

@Happily_Married: It’s just a generic supermarket ‘multivitamins and minerals A-Z’. Only cost £2.50 for 2 months’ worth. Hope that helps!

I’ve noticed the same thing too, I’ve been takign prenatals, biotin, and fish oil. My hair is much stronger (I think anyways). My nails still peel, but not nearly as bad. I wish I had started doing this a long time ago.

While I agree that supplements can work (biotin definitely helps!) there is no way that you could see the results so quickly. Your nails and hair that are already existing are dead, no amount of any supplement will change their condition BUT the new stuff that is growing in now will be helped by the supplements.
