I received the proposal that I had been waiting so long for. And of course a year is *plenty* of time to think back on some things... My advice to waiting bees:

    1. Enjoy the relationship.

    2. Learn the difference between a reason and an excuse.

    3. Communicate- let him know that marriage is important to you and that is what you would like and are waiting for. Then you should be unfront if it is a deal breaker, all things considered.

    4. Set and inform him of your timeline and see if his matches up.

    5. Love yourself FIRST- if you are not being fufilled in a relationship, don't be afraid to move on.

One year ago, I didn't realize that my life would change as much as it did. I went away with my then SO for the weekend and almost had a waiting melt down during our trip. At times waiting got the best of me. To my surprise, it was his plan all along. If I could do anything over, I wish I could do number 1 and enjoy our relationship more because he was going to propose when I least expected it. Good luck ladies and I wish engagement dust on you all!

@armychica06:  Haha I agree. I was a little impatient, and stubborn.... and unknowingly repeatedly declined doing something that he was trying to incorporate into the proposal. Oops!

I couldn't agree more.  I had a waiting mini-meltdown 2 hours before my FI proposed.  Luckily, he took it well and thought the meltdown was perfect since it meant I clearly wasn't expecting it to happen later that night.  Ha.  He was right, and I was shocked....but a little embarassed of all the angst I had had for the months leading up to it. Embarassed
